Saona Island is paradise on earth surrounded by white sand beaches, crystal clear turquoise waters and countless palm trees.
We will pick you up in our transport to go from your hotel to Bayahibe, we board the Speedboat and begin your journey to Saona Island in the Caribbean Sea. Halfway through the navigation you will have a 45-minute stop at the beautiful Natural Pool (Blue Lagoon) or sandbanks where you will be at the foot of the sea and the water only has a maximum depth of 1 meter. We can also enjoy the Starfish Sanctuary, after that we will advance our trip until we reach Saona Island, where you will enjoy approximately 2 hours 45 minutes of free time to enjoy the island.
We have the lunch at 1:00 pm, buffet style with various types of side dishes and meats. At approximately 2:40 pm, you will board a beautiful catamaran to return to Bayahibe. On the catamaran, you will enjoy the party and dance with our animation for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Our tour for $62 was basically the exact same tour as others for $120. There is no need to pay the extra unless you get to travel to isolated beaches. Basically all tours go to the same beach.

Trip was sold to us as a snorkel and scuba trip with lunch on the island. When the vendors tell you they are taking you on a Cat and maybe the sails will come up. Lies. They round you up from hotels and get you to the small port town. Not before they make you get out and walk through a shop with trinkets and junk. When we arrived the cats were full. They piled the rest of us in a water taxi and dropped us at the beach. When we ask about snorkeling they tell us they are only here to sell sea food. Sat at the beach waiting for 4.5 hours until apparently it was time to leave. Waited in line to board boats and they took us to a cat. These aren’t sail boats btw, they are rebranded party boats. They took us to a spot you could snorkel but they only had gear for maybe 20% of the people.
The island isn’t special. It’s just a Sandy beach. The drive each way is two hours. Lots of time wasting. We waited an hour for the scuba people to show up be fire we could leave. That’s after the vendor tells us we’re all on the same boat. Good thing my family didn’t want to do both.
This is literally the worst day trip I’ve taken in my decades of all inclusive travel destinations. Even my kids hated it.
I’m giving it two as the lunch on the beach was decent.
Beyond that I really wouldn’t do this. If it’s a party cruise you want just leave from your hotel. If you want snorkeling take the two hour trip. It’s just not worth your day. It’s also fairly expensive when you add 5 people.

I always buy from Viator and I have been very satisfied with the operators they use. But in this case the operator is very bad, disorganization, they did not meet the deadlines, they picked us up at the hotel at 7, they changed us to an old and uncomfortable bus. It was agreed to go see the stars before the Island and return in a catamaran and they turned the excursion, we went for two hours in a catamaran, we arrived at the island to eat.
It was the only time you could go through the food table in a long line and there was rice, noodles and some chicken. It's really NOT worth what they charge, it should be a 20 dollar excursion
On the way back, as it was 4 pm, we ran through the stars. We couldn't take a photo and they left us in the water for 10 minutes, because at that time it was already cold and the sun was going down.
The way back at 6 pm on the same bus, taking alternative routes because I did not have credit for tolls. Terrible, gentlemen, you should evaluate your operator in the Dominican Republic

Trip was excellent, tour guide was first class. The island is amazing, and swimming in the lagoon was a great experience.

We would have given this a four star rating, but unfortunately a ton of seaweed had found its way to where the boats drop us off so swimming in the ocean was closed the entire time. The infrastructure of the island itself was fine. The lunch they serve was good. The catamaran ride was long, but the crew made it fun and as enjoyable as could be the drinks for free they take amazing photos while on the catamaran, but you do have to purchase them then they take you to a big sandbar not too far from where are you stay the majority of the day. That was cool but only for about 10-15 minutes. A photographer took us during that time and took some really sweet photos of me and my husband in the ocean.

The Island Saola was amazing and Jose the person in charge was amazing. The only negative item was the driver was not on time to pick us up. We were waiting for him from 4 pm until like 6:30 pm that was not nice because it was raining and families with little kids.

What a beautiful place! Clear and warm water, no many options for food but was good fish, is a long trip in a bus about 2hours before you arrive to the dock to go to the Saona Island, on the catamaran was a party, just one kind of rum, pops and water to drink, service, guides, people and staff are super friendly! My advice is bring enough cash to buy souvenirs from the tour operators made for you, they have pro photographer on board so, pay your pics and also, bring a lot of change because you have to tip every one separately, bus staff, entertainers, boats crew, photographers, bartenders in the island, etc; we also went to a natural pool in the middle of the Caribbean!! will be an amazing experience and don’t forget your sunscreen !!

Coming back the driver left us the in the middle of the forest while it was raining at night even when my friends and me asked the driver to stop at our drop off place multiple times and didn’t he just kept driving

Lots of waiting around, it was a good trip over all, but it took from 7am to 12 mid day to get to Saona island, and we would have loved to of spend more time there instead of stop before hand. But getting back was a party boat with lots of loud Caribbean music and drinks which is just rum and mixer. This was fun but we must have waited nearly an hour from when we got to shore to when we actually walked on land again as the third shuttle boat just didn’t show up for us. Then we had to wait on the bus as more people tried to sell us stuff while we just wanted to get home. We left our hotel at 7:10am and got back just before 8pm. It’s an incredibly long day, out of the hotel for nearly 13 hours just to spend 2/3 hours at Saona island??
