After your visit, you’ll explore the coastal fishing town of Nazaré and the medieval village of Óbidos, stopping at the Batalha Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on the way. 1. Basilica de Nossa Senhora do Rosario de Fatima
Get comfortable in an air-conditioned vehicle as you start your journey toward the town of Fátima, a once-sleepy rural village that became an important pilgrimage site when three shepherd children reported apparitions of the Virgin Mary in 1917. Visit the Sanctuary of Fatima, a basilica that honors the apparition and attracts millions of Catholic pilgrims every year who go to pay their respects to the shrine
2. Batalha Monastery
Next, visit the 14th-century Batalha Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that illustrates the rich artistic heritage of the late 1300s. Discover the impressive royal burial site at the basilica’s Founder’s Chapel, where King João I, Queen Philippa of Lancaster and their son Prince Henry the Navigator were buried. Note that we only visit the main church area, which is free of charge. To visit the whole structure (which we don't have much time), cloisters included, an additional charge is required (to be paid by the client directly to the local ticket office).

A stop to enjoy the old town of Nazaré, site of miracles, visions and one of the best views of the Portuguese coastline.

Take a short break for lunch (own expense) in Nazaré, a quaint fishing town famous for its variety of restaurants and cafes. A popular summer retreat for the Portuguese, the village offers an interesting insight into local life. Short stop at the Nazaré cliffs to see the ocean views
5. Obidos Village
Finally, make your way to the medieval village of Óbidos. Founded in 208 BC, Óbidos is commonly known in Portugal as the 'wedding present town', as it was a gift from King Dinis to Queen Isabel on their wedding day in 1282. Follow your guide to one of the numerous wine shops and sample the Ginja liqueur, and then enjoy free time to explore the village’s medieval fortress, narrow streets, colorful houses and Gothic doorways and windows decorated with flowerpots and dazzling tiles. Grab a snack or browse around the tiny shops that offer a varied collection of beautiful handmade ceramic art before making your way back to Lisbon.

Although our tour guide and driver were awesome I wish there was more time on parts of the trip. Especially needed more time in Fatima. I also wished the tour guide was with us more explaining things as we went rather than giving us brief info and sending us on our own.

Overall, it was an interesting and unique experience and a great opportunity to explore various sites in one day. My personal favorite was the medieval town of Òbidos. However, the disappointing part was our tour guide. He provided very limited information pertaining to the sites we were visiting and its historical significance, admitting to not knowing the content very well yet given it was his first or second day doing this particular tour. As a result, most of us didn’t feel like we were on a guided tour, but rather driven around and dropped off at different sites with some limited guidance.

Our driver Patricia was so informative, patient, and amusing. We have had 4 other tours while our time here in Portugal, and by far she has been the best. I will recommend her to all our family and friends.

Felipe, our guide, was outstanding with a bilingual group. He introduced the sites with a good explanation of history, things to see, etc., but then allowed ample free time. My one suggestion for improvement: we spent only about 15 minutes at the cliffs overlooking Nazare; the beauty of Nazare is not the town but the views of the town and beaches from high above. At least 30 minutes should have been allowed there because the paths on the cliffs for good views and photos are extensive.

The driver cum guide (Inside Lisbon travel company) was excellent. He narrated the history, geography, significance of all the places we visited & routes we traveled throughout the trip. Also was entertaining & played some dado music for us.
