Discover the underground world, its secrets and legends by visiting Wieliczka Salt Mine - one of precious treasures in the cultural history of Poland. Until now it has been visited by over 40 million tourists from all over the world and in 1978 it was inscribed in the UNESCO list of world's heritage sites. Along the tourist route you will have a chance to visit around 20 gorgeous chambers, see saline lakes, tools and machines used for the process of mining and works of art: dozens of exquisite sculptures and bas-reliefs carved in salt - human hands' creations. Thanks to the guidance provided by licenced Salt Mine's guides you will learn about the history of the mine and lives of many generations of miners and their principle of hard work. There are 800 steps to walk down (350 of them will take you to reach the depth of 135 metres underground, the steps are wide and there are handrails) and at the end of the tour the lift brings you back up.

It was a fun experience though I wish the group were smaller. There were 45 people, and she did not have a microphone which made it difficult to hear her. Couple that with everyone around you having conversations it was impossible to hear a lot of the information. It is a lot of walking, though there were a few places to rest and you do get a break halfway through. Be prepared to a lot of shorts they is they go around and around, and if you are claustrophobic, you may have a difficult time. We did have someone from our group that went back to the entrance after only a few flights of stairs! Also when you exit it is longer to get to the elevator that brings you back to the street level. You can come out at three different locations- when is in the main area of the mind where you enter and the other two are down the road. Even though they tell you we had to go when you exit the elevator and get onto the main road. It is a bit confusing. We were lucky to hook up with the people riding in our van and we found our way back to where we were parked together. It was a little nerve-racking, and when we tried to ask directions, we could not find an English-speaking person.

Glad we booked this tour; we have knees problems but we were able to go down the steps which was an experience indeed. Amazing salt sculptures by the miners - the ingenuity of human creativity and resilience!

Good organised trip and only 20 minutes by car from our hotel.
The mine was impressive the deeper you went and you only get to see 1% of it.

Very poor experience from this company. Cancelled the day before tour, no notification just happened to view the tickets and saw cancelled written on them. Have tried to contact Legendary Krakow a number of times for an explanation but they have never got back to me so clearly do not care about customer service. We had booked the tour through Viator who told us that Legendary Krakow had cancelled the tour because it was overbooked. We booked this tour in January when it could not possibly be overbooked and if it was they had 3 months to let us know. Our trip was scheduled for a Bank Holiday so I suspect they charged higher rates to later bookings and cancelled ours as a result. Luckily Viator came to the rescue and booked us with another company but for a much higher price.

We wanted to experience as much as possible during our Krakow vacation and felt we were in good hands with Legendary Krakow.
Our driver Maciek got us safely through the traffic and made the journey very enjoyable. The experience in the salt mines exceeded our expectations - there was a lot to see, the pace of the tour was appropriate given the many positive impressions.
We enjoyed it so much that we booked another tour during the same vacation - with the same service provider and, to our delight, with the same driver. We can definitely recommend.
