Our tour will not only leave you full with EIGHT TASTINGS (not samples like on other Chelsea Market tours), but will include under-the-radar historical tales of Chelsea Market, like how it used to be a factory for Nabisco and the origin of the Oreo cookie. In addition to the trendy and bustling spots on the main floor, we will also visit Chelsea Local downstairs, where locals actually shop for their food.
8 tastings are included with this tour with two opportunities to sit down. All tastings are done inside Chelsea Market. We will make sure you leave full and satisfied with a buttermilk biscuit, homemade Italian crostata, NYC #1 hot dog, Pizza, Gelato and much much more!
Once outside, walk on the High Line, NYC’s elevated public park. You’ll hear compelling tales of the rail line that once served the West Side’s factories and butchers. You’ll wander through the Meatpacking District and find out how this area went from not to hot!

Had a wonderful time with Robin! She knows so many fun and historical facts about Chelsea Market and the nearby neighborhood. I have one teenage daughter and she really enjoyed the tour too. We would definitely recommend for both the yummy food and awesome facts.

We booked the tour quite close to the departure time but were surprised to find that when we arrived there were only another four people on the tour which with ourselves made eight. (Max is 16 we believe, so 8 was ideal for us).
On arrival just inside Chelsea Markets we were greeted by Joe our tour guide.
Joe an actor by profession, was a very knowledgeable, passionate, friendly, funny & genuine guy who made the whole experience entertaining, enriched and immersive.
The tour consisted of a walk around the Chelsea Markets and the various food outlets within the complex and an in depth explanation of the History of the Markets and surrounding areas.
The tour included 8 tastings at various stops during the 3 hours of the attraction.
The highlight for us was the Takumi Taco, a beautiful fusion of Japanese and Mexican cuisine.
The tour also encompasses the surrounding areas around the markets and the opportunity to take photos and videos.
Another highlight was the High Line walk and the accompanying information regarding its history and its subsequent restoration as a public space. (did get quite cold and windy on our visit so wrap up according to weather on your visit).
In conclusion we would have to say we can fully recommend the tour as it offers value for money and if your fortunate enough to get Joe as your guide, affords you a very entertaining way of learning about an important culinary part of NY City's heritage.

I had read that Food of NY Tours offered high quality tours, and that is exactly what we got. Joe was knowledgeable, interesting, and fun. We also felt very safe in the Chelsea Market. We tried many different foods and were quite full by the end. We spent more time outdoors than I had expected seeing interesting places nearby. Joe answered all of our questions, and had a lot of fun information to share with us that we would have never learned on our own. With the high cost of food in the Chelsea Market, I felt that this tour was a really good deal.

This tour was really good. The food was delicious and the guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. They gave us free chocolates as it is Valentine’s Day. I have taken other tours with this company and they have all been great. Chinatown is the next one I’ll try.

AMAZING well worth the money and so much history was shared. John was the perfect guide and made the trip so worth it. I loved all of it especially John. Ask for him if you go. He had such useful info and personal stories he shared that related to the history of the area.

I was excited for the Chelsea Market Food Tour, but it was a letdown. The tour felt rushed, leaving little time to enjoy each stop. The tastings, especially the Sicilian Pizza at Filaga and the hot dog at Dickson's, were mediocre and not as flavorful as I had hoped. The guide lacked depth in their explanations, particularly about the history of the OREO COOKIE. The large group size made it difficult to hear and added to the hurried atmosphere. The High Line Park segment was superficial, missing the detailed exploration I expected. Overall, the tour lacked the authenticity and quality I was looking for and felt more commercialized than educational. Disappointing experience overall.

Loved this tour. Great information from Joe about architecture, industry, and foods of NYC. Joe handled 15 folks so well. Great food and tour! Come hungry.

Great food tour, the Chealsea MArket Food Tour is a must : we ate really too much and everything tasted so good!
