On a cool yet crisp and sunny day, we met our tour guide Ismael and the drivers of two Mercedes vans waiting at the Piazza della Repubblica at 8:15 where we were kindly asked to remain outside until the others arrived. Since these smaller Mercedes vans are 3+3 seaters behind the driver, you may end up seating separately from your significant other if there happens to be 6 passengers in a van. At 8:30, the 10 people in the tour were dispatched to the two vans as 6+4 and we were on our way with our driver Stefano to our first stop at Piazzale Michelangelo to enjoy the panoramic view of
Florence with the Arno river and take photos before we left for Siena. Since there was a single guide, Ismael needed to change his van at each stop. We arrived in Siena at about 9:50, an hour after leaving Florence, and started our tour of this beautiful town,
eventually heading to Piazza del Campo, where they hold horse races twice a year on sand. Ismael was quite knowledgeable and filled us in with many interesting pieces of information as we continued our walk to the famous Siena cathedral. We parted there on the hilltop about an hour after our arrival in Siena to explore the town on our
own until noon. We certainly recommend visiting the beautiful cathedral. Then we headed to Castellina in Chianti to arrive about half an hour later and have lunch while tasting five different kinds of wine. Our sommelier Francesca provided lots of information during our visit of about 15 minutes to their production facilities and
cellars which lie at the heart of the Chianti Classico area after which we moved to the restaurant upstairs where there was a cozy fireplace burning. The excellent lunch which included Tuscan food ended with a special kind of dessert wine and cookies. It was about 14:15 when we left Poggio Amorelli and drove to San Gimignano, which
is another lovely historic town again on a hilltop. We arrived there at about 15:00 and had a guided walk to the main square of this smaller town famous for its towers and parted at about 15:15 to explore on our own for about an hour. It was dark when we were back in Florence. In summary, this was a nice daily trip to two historic towns in Tuscany with excellent lunch at a winery in between while you enjoy the beautiful panaromic view of the surrounding Tuscan countryside along the way.

This was a lovely day trip from Florence. One of the highlights for both of us! Great guide and driver so you didn’t have to worry about anything. Charming Tuscan countryside villages with rich history. Winery tasting and lunch was excellent. Chianti wine isn’t a wine I usually drink but liked trying it. I would definitely recommend this tour!

With Alma as our guide and Stefano as our driver we had a wonderful and informative tour that we enjoyed very much. We started with a stop at Piazzale Michelangelo for amazing views of Florence with time to take pictures. Then it was on to Siena. The Mercedes van was very comfortable and provided window viewing for the five of us traveling together. The stops we made in Siena and San Gimignano were well paced and more leisurely than the large tour groups we saw rush by us. Our stop in Chianti was at the Poggio Amorelli winery. They were excellent hosts providing us with a tour of the wine making process followed by a light meal which emphasized the wine and balsamic vinegar we were able to sample. Every aspect of the tour was well done and we would not hesitate to take a tour with Walks of Italy again.

Overall a good trip. One guide across 2 vans meant she was popping in and out of both vehicles which was a bit odd. There was too much free unguided time in both towns we visited, trip could be improved by charging a few Euros more and providing entry to Siena cathedral, otherwise you have to queue for the tickets (line was long). Winery experience was outstanding.

Very easy pick-up at the Piazza Republica. Lovely quick stop at the Piazalle Michelangelo for photos and history. Elena the tour guide is very friendly, outgoing and knowledgeable sharing her knowledge and personal insights. She is very welcomng and really helped to make sure that we were able to absorb details as we toured Siena and San Gimingano. We especially appreciated her story about the Palio and that she was able to obtain skip the line tickets for the Siena cathedral. It felt like she really wanted for everyone to get the most out of the visit. Highly recommend this tour.

This was mine and my family's favorite tour out of the two weeks we were in Italy. Small tour groups are the way to see things. I was originally scheduled with a big group and I decided to cancel to go with a small group and I am so glad I did. Our tour guide, Nebojosa, did an amazing job. There were 7 in this group. My three and four more from the same state as us in the US. Nebo made the tour so much fun and he is very passionate about history and art. Before we left Florence, we stopped for a breathtaking view of the city. We visited Sienna and San Gimignano, but the highlight was visiting a winery. The host was the sweetest. We sampled several varieties of wine, balsamic vinegar and ate some great food. We were given the option to buy wine and vinegar and have it shipped to us which we picked. If you are looking for a great Tuscany day trip, you will not be disappointed especially if Nebo is your guide. Definitely worth it!
