The tour was amazing! It is my third time in Firenze, so I am familiar with the sites. This tour was negatively impacted by the poor quality of the sound equipment. Major garbled voice reception made it difficult to hear the guide. The guide did a great job, I just wish I could have heard more of what she said…

For a church begun in 1296 and completed in 1469, time measurements are relative. However, to us, on an early cloudy day, the calm Duomo looked down on an anxious group ready to experience Brunelleschi’s masterpiece. Imagine the thrill of watching the guard unlock the doors for the day, entering the still-dark cathedral, and watching it take its first breath of the new day. That was our experience. Gloria provided us with a detailed and wonderful history of the structure before leading us up to the inside ring of the dome staring down at the ornate marble floor below and exquisite mosaic ceiling above. From there, we walked between the inside and outside domes, seeing the spinapesce brickwork masterstroke Brunelleschi employed to create the massive Duomo. If you have the time, couple this tour with a trip across the river to Massimo Ricci’s miniature reproduction of Brunelleschi’s dome in Anconella Park.

This tour was worth every penny! Francesca our tour guide was wonderful! She was very friendly, knowledgeable, answered all of our questions, and gave time to take pictures and admire the view. The climbing was very difficult so if you are not in shape I would think twice about this tour.

Guide was very knowledgeable!
It wasn’t a big group so everyone was able to hear and stay together.

This activity is not for people with mobility issues. Even if you are in shape, it is a challenging climb up to the top. The stairs are windy, uneven and sometimes steep. The stairwells are narrow and claustrophobic. And the height is daunting. Our Guide Chira, was great. Extremely knowledgeable about the structure and the architects who built the Doumo. She's a pro at this climb as she says she does it 3 times a week. Although the weather was bad and the view was terrible, it is definitely worth the trip up to the top.

Wonderful experience. Breathtaking views. Sibilla was a very knowledgeable, accommodating guide. It is a challenge to climb all the steps even though our group could not physically make it all the way to the top, it was well worth it for the parts we got to see. Awe inspiring.

The most memorable and exciting part was having the escort open the doors with what appeared to be ancient keys
And walking into the basilica in darkness and waiting for him to turn on the lights. Our guide Julia was so wonderful and kind and knowledgeable.
An experience I would recommend to anyone even at the early hour we met.

Alla was an amazing guide, so knowledgeable about the Duomo and Florence in general. Highly recommend the opening of the Duomo. So beautiful and skipping the lines was the best.
