Upon arrival in Flåm, indulge in a well-deserved lunch break before boarding an eco-friendly fjord cruise to Gudvangen.

Prepare to be captivated by the spectacular sights of the Aurland and Naeroyfjord, as you navigate through its mesmerizing crystal-clear waters. Marvel at the majestic mountains and numerous cascading waterfalls surrounding the fjord.

Finally, the same bus will be waiting at Gudvangen, to take you back to Bergen, dropping you off at your original pick-up location.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

WHAT TO EXPECT

1. Bergen
We leave the last hotel in Bergen, the Hotel Thon Orion, at 07:50 and make our way to Voss. The train to Myrdal leaves there at 09:51. The journey time to Voss is about one and a half hours, so there is some time in Voss before the train leaves. You will travel along the banks of the Sørfjorden, enjoying stunning views of the fjords and mountains. The road winds its way through lush forests and charming small towns but also through many tunnels. All along the way, the driver will give you information about Norway and its people. When you arrive in Voss, the driver will give you your ticket for the ferry from Flåm to Gudvangen at 3:00 p.m. Please keep it carefully, otherwise the captain won't let you on board ;-) ARRIVAL IN VOSS ABOUT 09:20 TRAIN DEPARTURE AT 09:51
2. Vossevangen
The bus stops right opposite the station and if everything goes according to plan you now have about half an hour to explore the area. There is a gas station on the far side opposite the station, the restrooms are on the far side and they were still free at the time of writing. If you feel like it and the weather permits, you can get a coffee from the petrol station shop and sit on a bench by the lake. Or you can walk into town and take a look at the 13th century church. There is a small supermarket opposite the church. Another alternative is the cafeteria in the Parkhotel. Here it is worth taking a look at the ceiling, where a toy train has been installed, which sometimes makes its rounds. But please always keep the departure time of the train at 09:51 in mind!
3. Myrdal Station
The journey from Voss to Myrdal takes 54 minutes. YOU HAVE TO GET OFF THE TRAIN IN MYRDAL, THE TRAIN TO FLÅM LEAVES ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE AT 10.41. IF THE TRAIN IS DELAYED, THE FLÅMSBANEN WILL WAIT FOR YOUR TRAIN TO ARRIVE.
4. The Flam Railway
Descending from the heights of Myrdal the Flåm Railway takes you on a thrilling ride through one of the steepest railroad stretches in the world. As you wind down the mountainside you will pass through some of the most stunning scenery in Norway. The train runs through numerous tunnels each offering breathtaking views of waterfalls, valleys, and snow-capped mountains. The highlight of the journey is the Kjosfossen waterfall, where the train stops briefly to allow passengers to take in the majestic sight and listen to the thundering sounds of the water cascading down the mountainside. The ride to Flåm takes about an hour, and is an unforgettable adventure that you won't want to miss. ARRIVAL TIME IN FLÅM IS 11:39 AM THE FERRY DEP. AT 3:00 PM You now have more than three hours of free time in Flåm and you may be wondering why we left Bergen so early. The reason is the train in Voss, the next train unfortunately leaves too late and then we would not have time for the lunch break in Flåm.
5. Flam
There are minibuses in Flåm that offer a tour to the Stagastein viewpoint. The trip there and back takes about 1.5 hours. However, there may be traffic jams on the route up to the viewpoint and you will miss your ferry. Flåm is a charming village nestled in the innermost part of the Aurlandsfjord, a tributary of the stunning Sognefjord. The village itself is small, but the natural beauty surrounding it is truly awe-inspiring. But you will certainly be hungry now and there are plenty of options for your lunch break. The Furukroa restaurant and café is highly recommended. Just keep walking along the fjord to the right and you'll find it at the end. In the high season there are several stalls on the small market square in Flåm. You will also find a bakery there, which also offers pizza. There is also a microbrewery there, which is definitely worth a look. If you like, you can also spend your time in a huge souvenir store and there is also a supermarket, which is usually open on Sundays.
6. Naeroyfjord
Prepare to be enchanted as you cruise through the majestic fjords on an electric-powered boat, offering a silent and serene journey. As you glide along the crystal-clear waters, your eyes will be drawn to the towering mountains that rise dramatically on either side, creating a dramatic and picturesque backdrop. Don't forget to look out for the cascading waterfalls that tumble down the mountainsides, adding a touch of magic to the already breathtaking landscape. This unforgettable cruise will take you deep into the heart of Norway's natural beauty, leaving you with memories that will last a lifetime.
7. Gudvangen
Arriving in Gudvangen at 5 PM, you'll have 15 minutes of leisure time to stretch your legs and take in the stunning scenery before re-boarding the private bus for the return trip to Bergen. Relax and sit back as you travel through the winding roads and scenic landscapes, reflecting on the unforgettable journey you've just experienced.The pure driving time to Bergen is about 2 hours and 10 minutes, but we don't want to miss another highlight on the way back and stop at the Tvindefossen waterfall.
8. Tvindefossen
The Tvindefossen waterfall is offering a symphony of water cascading down 110 meters. The harmony of the falls and the surrounding nature create a truly mesmerizing scene, making it a must-see destination for any traveler.
9. Bergen
On the way back to Bergen, we will make a short stop at Voss station to pick up our travel companions who have made the tour to the Stegastein viewpoint and are now taking their seats again. The return journey to your temporary home in Bergen now only takes one and a half hours. We will drop you off at the hotel where you boarded the bus. The time should now be just before 8 pm. Just in time to visit a restaurant, in some of them the kitchen closes at 9 pm. You had a wonderful day :-)
