We went to the Abbotts Well Mercure in Chester, a lovely hotel. It was a very entertaining evening, spoiled only by the food and drink service which was so unbearably, ridiculously slow that you felt you really were in Fawlty Towers, but no, it was not intentional.
It went like this: the dining room was laid on 12 large circular tables. We chose number 11, nearest the stage, and this was a mistake. The event started at 7pm, and we went to get drinks. The till computer said 'no' and we waited, and waited... none of the staff seemed to be perturbed in the slightest. At 8.30 we were hangry but hooray, the first course appeared. Trouble was, table one got served first and it was around 9pm when they got to our table. Now, the actors got to work after the last table was served, so the early numbered tables had finished eating and could enjoy the performance, whereas we were eating and had to constantly crane our necks to see what was going on. This annoyance was repeated for each course.
The food was good. The actors were good. Don't make the same mistake was did!

- When my friend found half a set of (fake?!) false teeth in her soup!
- When I got caught standing up (by Sybil) when it was only supposed to be those people (like my husband) who had a birthday that day!
- When Manuel asked me to feed some of my left over meat to his hamster!!??
- When Basil did his silly walk!
- When Manuel threw coriander into our soup!
So many things were funny - but where was Polly??? It wasn’t quite the same without Polly - and also did Manuel ever say Què?? I didn’t hear him once…

Firstly I want to say the actors were amazing and really funny, however having booked this over a year ago and really looking forward to the event I came away a little disappointed. We were a group of 4 and was sat on table 10 to be honest we spent 95% of the evening looking up to the tables 1 to 7 where most of the show was done on the odd occasion our table had a brief word thrown at it or we had a characters back to us, having all tables paying the same price I felt the scenes should have been spread more evenly throughout the venue

Omg what a laugh we had. We stayed in the Bloomfield House Hotel in Mullingar. The actual show was hilarious, great fun, the entertainment was top class, the actors had so much energy and where amazing at responding so quickly, to the “diners” comments and interacting with all. Well worth the money. It was a xmas family night out and it was definitely one we will remember fondly. Looking forward to going again next year.
