2. Ponte de Dom Luis I
This bridge of metal structure was built between 1881 and 1888 linking both cities, Porto and Gaia.
3. Sao Bento Railway Station
The station connects the Minho and Douro Valley railway lines. The building has french arquitecture traces which was designed by the portuguese architect José Marques da Silva and officially inaugurated on October 5th, 1916. This site is very well-known for its tile panels.
4. Mercado do Bolhao
The market is one of the most emblematic markets in the city. It is a typical neoclassical building. The Bolhão market offers fresh local products. The market is organized by product areas which includes fish, meat, vegetables, fruits and flowers. Outside the building, there are a variety of coffee and clothes shops.
5. Cafe Majestic
This historic coffee shop can be found in Santa Catarina street. This place resembles the Belle Epoque-era with carved wood, mirrors and chandellers. In 2011, this beautiful coffee shop was considered the sixth most beautiful coffee in the world.

Lello & Irmão Bookstore - This bookstore has been considered as one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world by several personalities and entities. The stairways served as inspiration for the Hogwarts’ stairways in the Harry Potter books, since JK Rowling lived in Porto.
7. Torre dos Clerigos
The church and tower are great architectural examples of the 18th century. The tower is the trademark of the city. It was designed by the architect Nicolau Nasoni, both buildings have a Baroque style and since 1910 they are part of the National Monuments.
8. Ribeira Square
Ribeira Neighborhood - Ribeira is one of the oldest areas of the city. Located along the river, it integrates the list of UNESCO sites. This is a very popular area full of restaurants and bars.

Many thanks to Fatima who was our excellent guide on a beautiful Sunday morning walking tour through Porto. She spoke excellent English and had a wealth of historic facts to impart throughout the walk.

The group was slightly larger than advertised as I think a guide rang in sick but it was really an issue. A really great way to find your bearings in city and we went to a restaurant recommended by Fatima - which was excellent.

The tour was filled with informative and fun facts and knowledge — Angelica was a superb guide and her attention to detail was fantastic! Really appreciated her suggestions for food, drink, and hangout spots as well. The Portuguese paste tasting session was brilliant as well, I bought 3 boxes of different flavours and they were delicious!

Today we did a private walking tour of Porto. We enjoyed this city more than Lisbon!! Much more visible history, because the earthquake of 1755 in Lisbon destroyed so much.
We enjoyed seeing the progression of architecture from 1920’s to Art Deco to 1950’s in the primary square. Learned about Henry the Navigator (1415).
The train station with the tile murals was the highlight of the tour, because it told the history of Portugal. Andrea, our guide, was excellent.

This was a really good tour. Prior to the start we weren’t too impressed with Porto but our guide Lucas was fantastic. He provided great information and insight. He was very knowledgeable and passionate about what he was describing. He also gave us some excellent information on where to go, how to save money and how to avoid tourist traps who will make you pay more. Lucas is a great guide and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour, despite the early rain. We taken walking tours in Luxembourg, Brussels, and Prague but Lucas was hands down the best guide we’ve ever had.
