We will begin at 7:30 in the morning with the pick up from the hotels in Calafate. Once finished, we will begin the trip to the town of El Chaltén (National Trekking Capital) 220 km from El Calafate. On our tour, we will cross the Santa Cruz River, and we will stop for a few minutes at Estancia La Leona, next to the river of the same name. We will continue on the way to El Chaltén, bordering Lake Viedma.
Upon arriving at Chaltén, we will have 5 hours to enjoy this small mountain town (if you choose the option with food or lunch, read the details).
To tour the place:

- Enabled all year round: Visit the Mirador de los Cóndores and Chorrillo del Salto accompanied by the guide.

To return, we will all meet at a previously scheduled meeting point.

We had the best time at this relaxed and informative excursion! Tobias was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide and Henry a great bus driver. Our recommendation: bring some snacks along because the lunch break does not start before around 2pm.

The trip was great with a helpful and knowledgeable guide. This trip is available locally at less than half the price charged. Book when you get there.

Just came back from being in a bus for 11 hours, with hardly no knowledge of what went on, the tour guide could hardly speak English, there was no information as to what the day entailed, and the comentary was almost all in Spanish with the occasional broken English. No mention of Fitz Roy at any point, we were let off the bus at certain times, but not allowed to explore on our own, not told any information, a few of the other English speakers had no idea either with one couple asking at the end, when would they see Mount Fitz Roy! Poor Tour Guide, - left feeling dissatisfied and a waste of day, when you travel half way round the world for an experience and all you get is cramp from sitting down almost all day!

We booked with a trekking, but there was no possibility to hike by yourself, only to little walks, but not the promised walk to Laguna Capri!

Unfortunately this was the biggest let down on our trip to Patagonia. Based on the description, we were under the impression we would have 5 free hours to do as we please in El Chalten (in our case, to hike). It wasn’t until we were 1.5 hours in to the drive that we were told this wasn’t the case and we were stuck in a structured day with the group (which consisted of just a short 1.9mi easy hike and lunch). Had the tour company let us know in advance, we would’ve canceled and driven to El Chalten ourselves as the ONLY reason we were willing to make the long trip was to hike. We had to sit on a bus for 6 hours total just to take a simple walk and eat lunch. It was such a waste of an entire day when we didn’t have any time to spare on our trip. To make matters worse, I reached out to the tour provider via WhatsApp and all they told me was they stopped offering the long hike option (even though the description still shows it). No apology or offer to remedy the situation and then they simply stopped writing me back. Very big waste of time and money, I would not recommend this to anyone. Head to El Chalten on your own terms and enjoy the many things it has to offer that are not provided with this trip.

Tracking was short and not very much exciting. Trip took us a small water falls which was just to kill time. In my opinion they could arrange a more spectacular hiking trail.

We were looking for a way to travel to El Chalten with limited time in El Calafate. This is the perfect overview of this part of Patagonia for those on a tight schedule. The two hikes were pretty basic, but the views are absolutely worth the drive!

A mediocre tour of El Chalten. It was a very relaxed tour and both the “hikes” were more like 20 minute nature walks. Also, our guide spoke 90% in Spanish and 10% in English.

For the price, it is still not a bad tour but there is probably higher quality ones available. We also did not buy the lunch option and just got lunch in town which was fine.

After having spent a day viewing the glaciers near El Califate, the six hour travel to El Chalten to view the peaks was not really worth the effort.

It was a beautiful tour. The guide was excellent giving information not only in Spanish but also on English. He gave us as much information as possible, and was excellent in respects.
