WHAT TO EXPECT

1. The Douro Valley
After meeting with your tour guide, leave from Porto in a comfortable climatized vehicle and prepare for wonderfull day at the beautifull Douro Valley!
2. Lamego
Having arrived to the Douro Valley and with a quick pass by the centuries old city of Lamego, we will be visiting a small family owned vineyard. Here we will have a commented wine tasting on a variety of their wines and also enjoy some wonderfull views of the terraced hills that make the Douro Valley such an unique place.
3. Douro River
After the visit to the first winery, enjoy a scenic drive through the world famous National Road 222, to the heart of the Douro Valley!
4. Folgosa
It´s time to visit one of the most prestigious wineries of the region, where we will tour ther enturies old estate and try a selection of their world famous Ports. Enjoy their wines, the views and the great ambiance that the place provides!
5. Pinhao
It´s time to go for lunch now, and as we head up the hills, passing to the quaint town of Pinhão, we will have the opportunity to have some fantastic views from up the mountains, to observe the expanse of the Douro Valley Region, a true "Geological Poem"
6. Sabrosa
Having arrived in Sabrosa we will stop at another family owned winery, where we will have a traditional portuguese lunch complete with 4 courses, entrance, salad, main dish and dessert, all paired with their delicious Douro red and white wine. For the grande finale we will visit their cellar where we will try some of their fantastic ports. After a full day of exploration and discovery, relax and enjoy your journey back to Porto!

• Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller
• Public transportation options are available nearby
• Specialized infant seats are available
• Suitable for all physical fitness levels
• Pick ups will be between 8:30 - 9:00 am. We will contact customers by message, with final details the day before the tour;
• This tour has two different options, with or without hotel pick up. If you choose the option with the meeting point this tour may or may not be done in a minibus or bus. If you choose the Small Group with hotel pick up option, this tour will be done on a minivan and a group of up to 8 people;
• This tour may be done in two languages. We try to avoid it, but sometimes we have no other solution.
• For lunch we provide meat, fish and vegan option. (We can also accomodate any dietary restriction with prior notification)
• Private option it's done in a private vehicle only with your private guide. The vineyards and rest of the locations are shared with other participants.
• For the ones that choose hotel pick-up, if your accomodation is not in a very easy to reach location, we might ask you to meet us at a close by location;
• This tour last around 9 hours, but it´s subject to local traffic conditions or visit schedules;
• Don´t forget to bring your camera with you!
• There is not much walking involved, but please bring comfortable shoes;
• We do tours all year round, in the winter it is cold and in the summer it's hot, please dress appropriately
• Reschedulings with less than 24 hours before the start of the tour will be charged a 30% fee (subject to availability);
• The order of the tour or partners visit are subject to change depending on availability;

To start my review this tour was beautiful and went to three great wineries. The wine was good and we enjoyed each stop. The tour guide was knowledgeable. Lunch was delicious. The reason we decided to give it 3 stars was this ended up mainly being a Port tour, which is of course the draw to this area but it would have been nice to have more types of wine or an option of wines to try as the tastings were all predetermined. Secondly there was a mishap during the tour that was handled poorly. When the mistake was brought to light the tour guide told us we were no longer allowed to go to the last winery and was not at all interested in resolving the mistake. The group collectively had to implore him into going to the last stop even though the mistake had been accounted for and the person apologized to the winery and guide for the confusion. The situation was handled very poorly and unprofessionally by the guide.

My wife and I had such fun on this tour! Andreas, our guide, was really engaging and funny. We visited three wineries with really good quality wines and knowledgeable presenters, and we had a delicious lunch in a lovely restaurant with a cute cat inside and a peacock wandering around in the garden outside. Highly recommended!

Fantastic trip out to the Douro Valley. A lot of thought has gone in to the Winery’s selected, with the intention to support locally owned vineyards. A great level of foundational knowledge supplied into the process's by both the driver and the vineyard staff.

Hernan was absolutely wonderful, he’s very nice and kind, he has an extensive knowledge about wine and answered all of our questions. He took us to three wineries where we enjoyed all of their wines followed by an elegant lunch. Highly recommended.

Do not go on this tour if you have food allergies! I let the tour company know in advance I had food allergies and was given no accommodations at 2/3 venues. The tour is 9 hours! My lunch arrived and was full of gluten. I had to wait 30 minutes for a new meal.

We had the BEST time on our Douro Valley Tour! Our driver Paulo was informative, fun and friendly. We stopped at 3 wineries, each unique but offered us a glimpse into their history and wine making process. We enjoyed an olive oil tasting as well. The included lunch was good- the main courses were excellent. And nothing can beat the views of the Douro valley- it was just incredible. Our van was comfortable and we enjoyed the small group style tour. Highly recommend this activity if you are spending time in Porto.

In spite of inclement weather, Pedro our Tour Guide did an outstanding job of providing an incredible and unforgettable experience to our small band of 8. He was driver, guide, entertainer and explainer in chief. With his subdued yet exuberant personality Pedro was able to make us feel at home, and at ease with each other while enjoying the Duoro Valley. As an extra benefit, Pedro whipped out his guitar and entertained the group with his highly accomplished rendition of a Fado piece during a wine stop: priceless! The provided lunch was sumptuous and the hosts at the wineries enthusiastic and knowledgeable. A brilliant and memorable tour.
