The tour begins with a visit to a port wine producer: Quinta da Roêda. There will be a personalized guided tour on the vineyards where the process of making the port wine will be explained. The wine tasting will be accompanied by a careful selection of Portuguese cheeses.
After tasting, we will embark 1 hour boat ride in a typical wooden boat (Rabelos). This soothing ride is the best time to contemplate the landscape and nature of the Douro Valley.
Lunch is served in a beautiful farm overlooking to the vineyards where there are several food options: fish, meat or vegetarian. Everything are included in the price.
The second winery is a small table wine producer, It will be an interesting opportunity to have more contact with the locals. The visit ends with an olive oil tasting.

Ricardo, our guide from Portugal Excellence Tours was fantastic! The entire trip was engaging and fun. We were comfortable and happy the entire tour. The lunch, eine Tours and boat tour were nice. Portugal Excellence Tours is a exactly that - excellent!

Me and my boyfriend did the tour with Ricardo. He was a very friendly guy who had a lot of knowledge about the city, surroundings, and vineyards. We had a fun car ride with him. We visited two beautiful vineyards. The boat tour is a nice break and the lunch was really delicious. The guides on the second farm were so nice, they told their story in a really enthusiastic way and were able to answer all of our questions.
Really interesting to see and hear where the port and wines come from!

This tour was a highlight of our trip! We can’t thank our tour guide Samuel enough for making this such an enjoyable experience. He was so knowledgeable and friendly, keeping us on time while allowing us to get to know and explore the area. We loved how this tour combined the educational aspect of learning about the food and wine of the Douro Valley while experiencing the landscape from both land and water.
I highly recommend this tour to anyone who is looking to experience the Douro Valley and all it has to offer!

Ricky Ricardo was amazing. He communicated before hand to let us know pick up location. When we arrived, he greeted us very warmly. There were four other people on the tour, and Ricky was really great at making sure each person was taken care of. He had water in the car for us and shared beautiful stories about the history of Porto on the way to the vineyards.
Throughout the ride, he made sure to stop for bathroom breaks, photo spots and snack breaks.
The tour included 3 vineyards, first stop we were able to try three ports and walk around to take photos and learned about the history of the vineyard. The second stop was our boat tour on the river where Ricky arranged snacks, such as bread cheese meats and wine, to enjoy while we did the tour. They also had blankets on board for us to use throughout since it was quite chilly.
After the boat tour we went to lunch at this beautiful place. Lunch was a three course meal. The salad was not our favorite but the pork entree with risotto was quite good as well as the chocolate dessert. They also served wine and port for dessert.
We ended our trip at the final vineyard where we enjoyed more port and were able to buy some cases to ship back home.
Overall, a great experience! Highly recommend as it does not take very long and you will still have the rest of the day to enjoy Porto. The entire experience was from 8am-5:30pm.
We will recommend to anyone and everyone that visits Porto!

This tour turned out to be a perfect choice - 2 different wine makers, river cruise in a small boat with a knowledgeable crew and local food tasting, lunch in a historic building, and a very kind, erudite, and helpful guide Samuel (also thank to him for smooth driving!). The group was small indeed - just 5 of us. Definitely highly recommended!

Miriam provided an excellent experience for us. She politely kept us on schedule. The two wineries we were taken to were great choices. The first one had amazing scenery and delicious wine, and the last one had delicious wine, honey, olives for us to sample along with a rich history. The lunch location venue was amazing and delicious.

A little pricey, but the private tour is worth the splurge! Our tour guide was great, and all of the vendors we met were wonderful! Highly recommend this tour to experience port wine and learn about the history of it! Personally, I didn’t care for the river part of the tour because we essentially rode down the river and back, but the views were nice.

We did this tour as a family of four with our two daughters aged 7 and 9. We really enjoyed it, our driver Samuel was great and excellent with the children. Beautiful views, lovely wines, plenty to taste our only issue was that it felt a little rushed at times. It would have been nice to get back a little later so we could take our time over lunch and at the last place. We still really loved it though and would highly recommend! ?
