The tour was fine but not as advertised. We paid more for a small group but we're just thrown on a large boat tour our guide didn't even attend with us.

This fantastic tour far exceeded our expectations. Maria was brilliant in giving us a constant stream of great information all day. The wineries were perfect, and the small group (6) was the perfect size to enjoy it all. Two wineries, an amazing lunch, boat ride, and spectacular scenery resulted in a perfect day.

By far one of the best tours we have ever done! Violeta was an amazing guide! It felt more like she was part of our family.
She was early for our pick up and drove is to Douro Valley where we hopped on the boat for our river cruise. It was mighty cold, but did not take away from the impressive scenery.
Then we were off to the first winery. We absolutely loved the wines, all of them! This tour company deals with smaller, family owned estates, making the experience more personal and the wines more enjoyable.
Off to lunch... wow,a lot of food! We don't usually eat that much, but everything was delicious.
Our last stop was at another winery for ports. Our appreciation for ports has certainly increased.
Violeta returned us safely to our meeting spot. She was amazing from start to finish.
Oops, I even left my sunglasses in the car and, on a day she did not have tours, went and retrieved them for me and delivered them to me!

We did the tour in Spanish with María. It was excellent. We had booked for two, and that day there were no other reservations so they made the tour equally private for us! (It wasn't cancelled!)
Maria looked for us at the hotel, she arrived 10 minutes before the pick up we had agreed to, we went to a winery with a beautiful view, where they explained the process of making wine to us and we tasted wines, and also olive oil and honey! Then we went to lunch at a local restaurant. The food was super abundant, very delicious, it included coffee, free drink, dessert, starters and several main dishes with their sides. For me, eating well was important, since we were going to be doing the tour and drinking alcohol all day.
Then we went to another organic port winery. We tried white and red port wines, several too! Many new flavors.
Since we were celebrating my birthday that day, María brought a candle with her and they sang me happy birthday on an improvised cake :), and they also gave us olive oil to try there too.
María took care of us all day, and was super attentive to us. When we finished the tour he also offered to take us back to the hotel.
If you're not looking for something massive, this tour is the one!

Don’t bother with any of the other tour companies, no offense. If you want a a small group and an awesome guide it would be Violeta.
She’s bubbly, funny, knows the history and area well and really made the trip very enjoyable.
Can’t recommend her and this company enough!
