My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our private Douro Valley Tour and Wine Tasting. Ricardo was our host and driver. He was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, professional, accommodating, and very flexible. He provided us multiple options to personalize the private tour to our tastes and interests. The wine tasting and lunch at Quinta da Pacheca were fabulous. We enjoyed experiencing a Portuguese winery and being educated on the wines of the region. Ricardo ensured that we did not miss the spectacular views of Douro Valley during the car ride. I give this private tour with Ricardo my highest recommendation.

Punctually at 9 am we (4 persons) were picked up at our hotel. The ride in a spacious car of a noble brand took us via Amarante to the 'Quinta da Pacheca', where we could enjoy a Wine Tasting. The lunch there was excellent. The views of the Douro River and the terraced vineyards on the way back were simply breathtaking. Our friendly chauffeur José offered us an entertaining and unforgettable day tour; absolutely recommendable!

Our guide Ricardo was truly excellent. Very knowledgeable, very prompt, and a great driver. The excursion was memorable: The scenery and landscape were beautiful and we enjoyed our wine tasting immensely. It was a wonderful introduction to this most exceptional wine region of the world. We had an amazing day with Ricardo on our tour of the Douro Valley. He went above and beyond giving us a day to remember. I would recommend a tour and Ricardo wholeheartedly. We were taken to places not on the regular tour. A great day.

Even before the trip communication with Ricardo was excellent. He was punctual and very accommodating with our thoughts on how to spend our day. We chatted during the journey and were filled with lots of interesting facts as we drove. I must recommend the Olive Oil tasing where the scenery is wonderful. Then the boat trip down the valley was good with a different look through the terrain. We were then driven to another winery for lunch where Ricardo had perfectly understood what we had asked for. This was followed by a wine tasting at the same winery to round off a great day. Then the toughest challenge of the day was to stay awake on the journey back. I would like thank Ricardo for the AMAZING day.

Ricardo picked us up on time despite traffic being snarled due to a students’ parade. He was knowledgeable, friendly and an excellent driver. His car was an E-class Mercedes in tip-top shape. We would gladly use him again.

What can I say?? It was an amazing day with Ricardo. He was punctual and welcoming. He is very knowledgeable about the area. The tour included stops and amazing wineries and breathtaking scenery. This was a private tour with myself and friend. Worth the money to have a personal and private experience.

We highly recommend Maia Tours. Our driver Ricardo was prompt, knowledgeable and friendly. He made sure we had an enjoyable experience. His car was an executive Mercedes E class that was spotless, comfortable and smooth riding even on the winding roads. Our experience was excellent!
