Take a tour of Kyoto's famous Gion district and learn all about the mysterious geisha traditions of the area. Your local guide will tell you about the traditions from an insider perspective about Geisha culture. At the same time you'll explore Gion's beautiful streets, temples, shrines, and shops, for a comprehensive overview of historic Kyoto. The mysterious world of Geisha can seem exclusive and challenging to discover, but on my experience
･In the first half we will walk in Gion and discuss the living traditions, their lifestyle and history.
･In the second half we will meet an apprentice geisha, Maiko. First we will talk with and ask her questions. Also we will watch her dancing, having one of these, a cup of tea or lunch or dinner together.

What an amazing tour, the guide has so much knowledge on the Geishas and history of the area. We booked this tour from the excellent reviews this tour had and even then it was so much better than we had hoped. We highly recommend this tour, you will not be disappointed.

Our guide Kentaro was outstanding and informative. It is through his patient building relationship with Gion establishments that we were able to meet a beautiful and talented maiko, Fukumio, at a teahouse in Gion. It was such a fun and wonderful experience to meet a maiko in person. She answered all our questions and we were allowed to take photos. Ken also recommended a favorite restaurant and it was absolutely outstanding - again, due to his patience in establishing relationsships.

You cannot understand and appreciate the geisha culture without a guide and Ken was very knowledgeable. This tour was a highlight of our visit to Gion

Ken was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide! We explored Gion with his expertise plus we had the pleasure of meeting a Maiko and getting a delicious traditional Japanese dinner. I highly recommend this tour!

It was a wonderful tour, our guide Ken was very knowledgeable and well familiar with the Geisha culture. It was very educational tour, so different. It was also great to meet in person Miko (a young Geisha), she was very nice and answered all our questions (she doesn't speak much English but Ken translated). I highly recommend this tour :)

It was the best experience I had in 2 trips to Japan. Thanks Ken for sharing all this information and thanks for introducing us to a maiko. Even as a Japan enthusiast, I learned a lot and was very impressed by the meeting. Go there, you won't regret it.

Our guide was amazing and extremely knowledgeable given that he lives in the Geisha district and is a member of a Geisha theater. His insight and information about Geisha culture was extremely interesting. Our time with the Geisha apprentice (Maiko) was awesome and unique. Loved the whole thing.
