Get a taste of New Zealand farm life with dinner at Walter Peak Country Farm. Start your evening cruising along the calm waters of Lake Wakatipu from Queenstown on board the TSS Earnslaw, a 1912 vintage steam ship, to arrive at Walter Peak Country Farm. Enjoy a gourmet BBQ buffet dinner in the Colonel's Homestead, as the resident pianist provides background music during dinner. On cooler nights, the open fire creates a cozy atmosphere. After dinner, you have the option to watch a farm show or relax in the bar before returning to Queenstown on the TSS Earnslaw.

Please be sure to arrive 20 minutes before your scheduled departure to check in.

Beautiful cruise across the lake, absolutely delicious foods and lots of it, super friendly staff, and the working sheep dog demonstration was so cool. Tons of photo ops along the way, take the evening cruise to enjoy the sunset, for sure.

More buffet than barbecue but no complaints about the quality of the food provided.
Perhaps a longer cruise and stay would enable us to see more of the lake and to have a more leisurely meal.

We loved this activity!! The ride across the lake on the Ernslaw was amazing! It was great to be able to hear the history of the ship and to see how it works up close. The beauty of the lake and the farm are astounding. Everything on the large buffet menu was delicious. The sheep shearing and sheep dog demonstration were awesome! So entertaining and educational. On the cruise back we got to sing classic old tunes accompanied by the pianist. Our group was made up of four couples and we all put this second only to Milford Sound on the things we did while in Queenstown. Great fun for all ages!

The staff were friendly and the food delicious. Calling each table to the buffet avoids dining chaos.

Real NZ does a great job. The steam ship is fun, but 45 min each way means you have a very limited time to eat. Minus one star for the chaos on seating. Three families were asked to vacate the tables they had because apparently they were reserved for a Disney package. Not fun having to sit outside in the cold.
The ranch is magical. The dining experience is miserable. There is a stampede to eat, and if you happen not to shovel food at a blistering pace and enjoy eating normally, well essentially everything is gone and things are being wrapped up. I would not choose this experience if you enjoy the dining experience. The food quality was good. Maybe it is a better experience in the off season.
The piano sing-a-long on the way back was excellent.

The ship was amazing… a historic experience with live music and option to buy drinks. The views along the journey were magical. Dinner and a show… food was fantastic with lots of options. The show was super fun. Such a fabulous evening.
