Discover the real Netherlands in this amazing tour through Zaanse Schans, Edam, Volendam, and Marken – the jewels of the Dutch countryside.

The visit starts in Zaanse Schans, where you will be able to take pictures of typical Dutch windmills that are still in use today. Afterward, we will drive to the Waterland area, passing through the beautiful villages from this part of the country: Edam, Volendam, and Marken. In Edam, we will walk through historic sites like the square where the famous Cheese Market used to take place. Then, near Volendam, we will visit a local cheese producer, where the cheese master will explain how they produce Gouda and Edam cheeses. In the clog factory, you will discover the secrets of this typical Dutch shoe. Then, travel back in time to the 17th century as we walk by cozy fishermen houses in Marken, the fishing harbor, and the protestant church.

Join us for an unforgettable day visiting Edam, Volendam, Marken, and Zaanse Schans.

A great way to experience the countryside around Amsterdam and get in windmills, historic villages, and the historic context. Ilya the guide was very informative and fun. I loved Marken the most - hadn’t heard of this island community before but it was a window to the Dutch way of managing their relationship with the water that surrounds them:

Our guide was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. Made sure everyone was on board and safe. Perfect day trip to get away from the city and get a real sense of small village life. I would love to live here!!

We had a lovely day out. The guide was excellent and very knowledgeable and the bus driver was good and friendly. We loved seeing and hearing about the Dutch countryside, how the water is dealt with and seeing the cute little towns. It was an excellent day out and I would highly recommend it. Thank you.

This is such a good good tour where you get to see so much of the Netherlands that you don’t when staying in a big City.

When booking travel at new locations finding the pick up location is important. The pick up location was easy to find as it was in front of a major hotel.

When it came to the tour guides, the guide was friendly, personable and approachable. The locations for this tour was well chosen. It was great value for the money.

This was a larger tour bus roughly 40+ people, but well managed. This is a great way to see the windmills and sites near Amsterdam.

Wonderful. Well worth it. Our guide (Xavier??) was very informative and funny and ensured our best experience including keeping us separate from other crowded tours in the same area.

The tour guide, Ilya Bronsky, was accommodating, had a good sense of humor and good knowledge of Netherland's history. We took the tour on December 31. It was very cold, rainy and cloudy but it's not too bad. Ilya was staying on course despite of the weather, taking us on all the tour sites. He's making sure everyone was back on time and safe. We really liked his recommendation of restaurant to have lunch at Volendam. De Lunch, the name of the restaurant, served good foods and great service. If anyone wants to take this tour in the winter like us, bring umbrella and rain coat or winter water proof jacket.
