Polynesian Adventure Tours offers a well-organized and timely journey, with convenient pick-up from most hotels/resorts. Our guide, Salesi, was both friendly and entertaining, adding a personal touch to the experience. The drive to Hana is challenging, requiring significant expertise due to its numerous curves and narrow paths, which Salesi handled adeptly. While the time allotted at each stop could be longer, this is understandable given the need to maintain the tour schedule for a large group. The selection of a restaurant for lunch was excellent, offering delicious banana bread and other options. However, the price point feels a bit high considering the tour is predominantly driving, with limited time spent at each stop. Overall, it's a good tour for those looking to explore the area with knowledgeable guidance, but improvements could be made in balancing time at attractions with the cost of the tour.

My wife and I took the “road to Hana” trip. Salesi was our driver. He was a great driver, he was very knowledgeable about Maui’s history and flora and fauna.
We had wonderful day and will do it again in a heartbeat.
Salesi keep up the good work.

The guide was great.
The trip was too short.
It said, 6am to 6:30pm
I got dropped off at 3pm
I feel, I got short changed.

Overall the trip was good and what I was expecting but I have a few things that they can improve on. Ed was our guide and he was full of good information along our route though there were times where it was hard to hear him.

The bad: Lunch was a debacle. I had to ask for cheese pizza to be provided even though 2 child tickets were purchased and then it seemed like it was an inconvenience. It was served family style and there was not enough food to go around. They planned for 3 slice of pizza per person but they were small slices that were not filling. The salad was provided in a bucket for people to serve themselves and out of the 18 people at least 5 did not get salad. My 2 boys each got 1 slice of the cheese pizza then we had to try and find something else they would eat. My 65 year old mother in law had to run to get pizza when pizza's 5 and 6 came out just to make sure she got something to eat. When more 3 people asked Ed if more pizza could be ordered he basically said sorry not sorry this is what you get. It was really disappointing because my 7 year old got 1 slice of pizza and was still hungry as well as the 3 other adults who did not get their "3 slices".

The really bad: On the way down it we were going pretty quickly and around curves to the point that my 10 year old got sick all over the bus. There was no vomit clean up kit on board the bus. In fact Ed didn't even attempt to provide a way to clean up the mess or advice. This isn't the first time it happened even Ed said that. I was standing there as a parent having to figure out how on the side of the road to clean up the bus as my responsibility. I get that it was my child but I had to go into my backpack and get out our swim towels and use that to clean everything up. If it wasn't for other ladies on the bus we would not have had a single thing to clean up the vomit. Ed just stood outside the bus and was twiddling his thumbs. This is my biggest frustration with this trip. A vomit clean up kit needs to be added to all buses in my opinion.

Overall I would probably recommend this tour but I would tell everyone to plan for a light lunch so bring extra snacks and be prepared if you get motion sick that you will have to clean it up yourself because they don't have anything to help you. I won't do the Road to Hana gain because I've checked that off my list.

Long trip but worth it seeing waterfalls, nature at its best. Some parts of the trip were somewhat bumpy but didn't mind especially seeing places where we really saw Hanas beauty.

The water falls and the mountains and the trees. Also we had the BEST tour guide, Fi. I can't say enough about how great she was. She handled the winding roads with such skill. I would HIGHLY recommend her. The company: Maui's Private Guide. Ask fir Fi.

We love our trip to Hana and really appreciate the hard work and narrative from our driver "Sally". It is really impressive to think about someone who makes the difficult drive everyday for a living.

One recommendation I would make is to maybe eliminate some of the stops that seem repetitive to allow some more time at the beach and waterfall.

Overall I recommend anyone to just sit back and relax watching the scenery, listening the information from a local expert, and not to stress with the drive. It is not worth it to drive it yourself, but it is a unique experience of getting to know Maui.

It you want to enjoy the view without yourself driving through the curves and turns, then this is the best tour to take. Our tour guide Sale was excellent. He showed us some plants in the forest and what they are using them for. As well as he let us try to eat the fruits from the trees that we passed by.
