We really enjoyed our Crystal Cave Tour- operated by South East Iceland tour company. Our driver and guide Tom was super helpful, fun and friendly. There was a family with a child on our tour and Tom was so helpful with her and made sure she was safe and able to participate. The super jeep was great, and had new tech which made reaching and driving on the glacier quick and easy (Tom didn’t have to get out to release the pressure in the tyres, like some other tour operators) the whole experience from start to finish was well organised and we felt we got the most out of our day- the ice caves in the glacier were truly amazing to experience and see first hand. It was a highlight of Iceland for us on our winter trip. We have great photos to remember it by and had a really great experience through these tour companies. Would highly recommend.

Overall, the tour we took was wonderful. We were provided with all of the appropriate gear and training by our guide, Snorri (not sure if I spelled this correctly). Snorri was entertaining and knowledgeable. We had a lovely time and saw so many beautiful things.

The reason that I knocked one star off is because I felt the caves we saw on our tour looked nothing like the ones in the photos. We were expecting to see a huge cavern/large space made of ice and really only saw smaller spaces that only 1-2 people could fit in. I'm not sure why ours was different, but we were a little disappointed.

My initial tour at Skaftafell was cancelled, and seeing a blue ice cave was really something I wanted to do, so I booked the Jokulsarlon Ice Cave tour.

It was exactly as described.

We got in the Super Jeep, made our way to a parking lot, then walked another 20 to 25 minutes to the ice caves. By god, there really was blue in there!

Our guide, Tom, was a decent bloke. Very professional about everything from safety to actual guiding. Also, really knowledgeable about the landscape & the caves.

It definitely was a unique experience, and I'm glad to have done it!

While our entire time in Iceland was amazing, this experience really stood out. Bjork was a wonderful guide and did a fantastic job. She patiently took everyone's phone to take amazing pictures for everyone. Outside of the tour - she even gave us some tips to see the Northern Lights - which totally worked that evening. It was an awesome experience and we will certainly return the next time we travel to Iceland.

We booked the Ice Cave/Glacier Hike tour because of the great reviews we read online. I can’t speak to how good or bad this tour was because we never went. There was a terrible rain storm with very high winds the day that we had booked our tour. We called Arctic Adventures multiple times and left messages, but no one answered or called us back. Finally, someone replied to our email (a half hour before the tour was supposed to leave). They told us that they would not reschedule us or provide any type of refund because the weather experts in Iceland deemed it “safe” to go, and Iceland is known for being rainy and windy. This seemed crazy because we couldn’t even leave our hotel safely, much less drive to the caves and go on a hiking tour. We continued arguing for days until someone from Arctic Adventures finally told us that our tour had gone as scheduled and was perfectly fine for everyone else except for us, so we had no grounds to dispute any charges. We asked 3 different times to speak to a manager, and not one representative would forward our request to their management team. We ended up booking another tour for the next day with a different company, which was fantastic. But here’s the kicker… the guides for the other company told us that we were the first tour to actually go out in the past couple of days because the run-off from the rainstorm was so bad that you couldn’t even reach the caves! This other company had issued full refunds for everyone who booked over the past couple of days. Afterwards, we talked to other local guides from different companies and found out that the trails to the caves were completely closed off for the past day because the entire area was flooded! Arctic Adventures is disgusting and I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. Don’t automatically trust them just because they are rated as one of the best. I don’t know how they don’t have terrible reviews, but there are plenty of other local companies who are wonderful and actually honorable. If you’re thinking about booking with Arctic Adventures, my only advice is to RUN!!!

It is a lifetime experience you must do in your life. Our guide, Bjork was entertaining and informational. She is great behind the wheels taking us through the rough terrains. She clarified any questions or details we asked her about Iceland. We got crampoons and helmets (you will need it to keep your head in one piece as you crawl through caves) once we got down near the ice caves path. Don't forget to get your gloves, beanies and face scarves as it was windy and the snow pierced through our faces. The tour lasted for 3 hours and the only downside was that the ice caves didn't really look like the pictures or maybe it was my misconception of the ice caves. But they are still beautiful.

We had a lot of trouble deciding which ice cave tour to do as we couldn't see a lot of up to date (or positive) reviews with actual feedback on the caves themselves. We therefore booked the one that most suited us for time and place etc and hoped for the best based on the older review. Let me tell you, I'm glad we booked this particular tour. We had a very comfortable and luxurious feeling superjeep. Our guide, Axel, was very funny and very informative. We had a great time chatting to him and he answered all of our questions.

The guide explained to us that they have access to a couple of caves, and the one they take you to depends on the weather conditions at the time. The day we went, was extremely windy, so there was only one cave saefly accessible to us. Unfortunately, this meant it was also the safest for most of the other groups visting at that time, so it was very busy and crowded. Despite this, the groups all operate on a first in first served manner, so we would wait outside for the group in front to finish before entering. This is a good system as it allows the smaller groups time to themselves and opportunities for photos etc without people absolutely everywhere, however it also means there is a bit of waiting time between seeing things. Axel kept us entertained with information about the glacier and the ice, and you're still in a moulin while waiting so it's still beautiful and interesting.

The caves themselves are now more of a series of moulins and a small cave, not like what's pictured in the guide photos. However, this isn't unexpected as the caves are completely up to mother nature and different every year. It's an overall really cool experience and we really enjoyed it. My partner and I would recommend this to anyone on the fence!

This was an incredible tour. Bjork was incredible as a guide. She was knowledgeable, helpful and patient with the group. It was worth the drive to see the ice caves.
