We came with the cruise ship and it was easy to find our private guide Thomas at the 7 eleven meeting point. The first thing we did was a tequila tasting at a so called farm at the end of a little road. The tasting itself was ok. Then we drove around the island to get to the Cenote and then we made a stop at the little town of El Cedral. Thomas didn’t even get out of the jeep to show us around. The snorkeling was disappointing because it was just off of a deck by the restaurant/beach. The fish are fed with tortillas to be around the shore. There was though a lot of fish. All in all we were a little disappointed with our guide and the overall experience.

We had an amazing experience with our guide Sergio, he was so educated and personable. I prefer supporting small local business and giving back to the community that so heavily relies on tourism. I 100% recommend this service! If ever back, will book again!

First off, let me say that our guide Pedro, is one of the most knowledgeable, fun, kind, and friendly people we have ever met. He made this the most enjoyable experience our family could have ever asked for! We learned about tequila, chocolate, guacamole, the Spanish language, turtle rescue, the history of the island, conservation, scuba diving, cenotes, salsa, and the list goes on and on… what… a… day!

We started by meeting him in downtown, and although our ship dropped us at a different port, the business was so incredibly accommodating. We took a taxi to the original drop off location, but if we had called they would have adjusted for us. Once we met him we hopped in the jeep and were off.

Our day started with a short tour of the downtown area, with a bit of history of the Mayans, and explanation of the monuments we were seeings. Our next stop was a tequila tasting and lesson. We were traveling with my 13 and 10 year old and they even thought it was interesting. There was a chocolate tasting, so we did that as well. It was a pleasant experience, and we did end up buying some chocolate and peanut butter tequila too 😂

We then traveled the coast where we stopped and saw the neighborhood gator, looked at some beautiful beaches and took some photos, and learned all about sea turtle rescue and island conservation. We want to go back again in the summer so we can experience the turtle hatching and help with rescue!

It was around lunchtime, so Pedro gave us the choice of where we might want to eat. We chose to wait to eat towards the end of our trip, so we kept going. We appreciated the choices and options he provided. He adjusted for our families interests, and that made the experience so nice.

Next was our trip into El Cedral and the Jade Cenote. The history and culture in El Cedral was so incredibly special. It was just a beautiful area, and we loved learning about the people that lived there and the celebrations the area holds.

When we arrived at the Jade Cenote there were a lot of tourist groups. Pedro helped us line jump and we decided to swim. My husband and son jumped off the dock, but my daughter and I decided to jump from the hole above. It was exhilarating! One of the coolest things I have ever experienced! We didn’t stay there long, but that was ok. It was all about the experience. There may have been risks with the water quality (lots of bats in the cenote- so cool to see though) and the jump, but for adventure seekers like me, it was AWESOME!

After our jump and swim, Pedro had cold beers and non alcoholic drinks waiting for us. We then did some shopping and learning in the center of El Cedral, where he took us to see the only remaining Mayan ruins on the island. We had learned about the black coral and we stopped at one of the local jewelers where we were able to purchase some beautiful pieces to remember our journey.

Next we were off to lunch and snorkeling. The water was very rough that day, so Pedro gave us a choice whether to swim in the shallows for a few or check out another cenote. We could see snorkeling would be tough, so we adjusted our trip again and did a leisurely lunch and then visited a second cenote, which much was very different from the first. Although we were really looking forward to snorkeling, you can’t determine God’s plans with the weather, so again we were grateful for Pedro adjusting to make our day an amazing experience.

We ate lunch at Tortugas, had delicious fajitas, and Pedro sat and ate with us, teaching us about food, culture, and history the whole time. He even snuck into the kitchen to get us some Habanero salsa to try!

We made it back to our port in plenty of time to do a little shopping and say goodbye. I didn’t go in for a hug, but I wanted to! It felt like we were on a day of adventure with a lifelong friend and it made for a magical and memorable experience. This was our last adventure on a 9 day trip spanning four different countries, and my 10 year old son said it was his favorite day ever because of Pedro.

If you are considering this tour, do it. We would do it again in a heartbeat! If you can request a guide, we HIGHLY recommend Pedro!

If you read this, Pedro, thank you for making this the best experience ever. As we said, we are waiting for you to come to Michigan to scuba the Great Lakes! We will have a room waiting! You’ll get used to the cold. We swear!

Our guide was very knowledgeable about the island and took us all over, I loved seeing the Mayan temple next to the church, everything was so beautiful and chill, I was happy not to be rushed and to go at our own pace.

The Jeep we were given to drive had nothing working on the dash, no speedometer, the gas was stuck on empty, nothing worked at all. We smelled a very strong burning smell and the vehicle ended up overheating and was not able to be driven anymore. We had to be picked up by one of the tour guides in another vehicle and leave the jeep. My son was extremely disappointed because he was looking forward to snorkeling, which we did not get to do at all.

We went on this excursion with 5 other families, many children. We are all friends. The main reason we booked this excursion was to snorkel. Our cruise needed us back on board by 3:30pm, so we wanted to be back at the beginning by 2:30 so we didn’t need to rush.

We were supposed to leave at 9am. The guide was late getting us from our pickup location and didn’t have all of the jeeps ready when we got to the lot, so we had to wait around for 45 minutes. Then we went to a tequila farm, which was cool, but we were there for a long time, longer than we should have. The kids did enjoy the animals there and trying fresh coconuts.

The next stop was the beach, which was the highlight of our trip. We were there for about 40 minutes. The kids loved it. The beach wasn’t packed. It was beautiful.

Then we stopped for lunch. We got there around noon. I asked the guide when we were snorkeling and he said we didn’t have time to do that today. Which was so unfortunate because that was what we wanted to do the most. I didn’t understand why we didn’t start with that or at least why he didn’t ask us our preferences because our entire group would’ve wanted to snorkel. The kids were all very sad about this.

The lunch was good. No drinks included. You had to choose between only chicken or beef tacos, fajitas, or quesadillas. It was a beautiful view, but again, we were there too long. We were told the next stop was seeing the Cenote, which we were excited about. We don’t arrive at the cenote until just before 2pm. We asked the guide about time and he told us we would still be back when we said, around 2:30.

The cenote was cool. The ride to it was fun in the jeep. Very keep-like experience in the forest with lots of bumps, potholes, water puddles, hills, etc. In the cenote, you could swim in it or jump into it from above. We had a few people jump in from above and that was cool. However, you must know that you will be very stinky afterwards. The water was pretty gross.

When we left the cenote, it was around 2:15. Remember, we requested to be back by 2:30. He said it’ll be closer to 2:40 that we arrive now. We took off on the way there with 5 vehicles in our party. At one point around 2:45 we realized we didn’t have one of our vehicles in our line. We pulled over and waited only to find out one of the jeeps broke down. They had to get picked up by another car and taken to our group. This was incredibly stressful for all of us in the time it took to figure out where they were. We had no idea what had happened.

The entire last 1.5 hours of this trip was incredibly stressful. We thought we were going to be close to missing our ship. We didn’t arrive to our starting location until after 3pm and had to sprint to the cruise ship.

Very stressful last leg of the trip and we were very disappointed that we couldn’t snorkel. Outside of those two major things, we did enjoy what we did and the kids did as well. We just wished the company had better time management to ensure we do everything we expected when we purchased this excursion.

Sergio was great! We were a family of 6, so he took half of us in one Jeep and I drove the rest of us in a second Jeep. We visited the Tequila Ranch, a small, quiet beach, Jade Cavern, and then had lunch at the Tortugas beach club. We could have snorkeled, but my grandparents were having a rough day so we decided to leave early and get them back to the ship.

I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for something fun and scenic in Cozumel!
