Meat-stuffed empanadas, shrimp tacos and sweet Mexican pastries are on the menu for this 3-hour culinary tour of Cozumel. Located off the coast of Playa del Carmen, the island is actually closer to Cuba than it is the Mexican capital, giving its cuisine some Caribbean flair. Get a taste of it with the help of a savvy guide who leads you to five local hotspots for samples of classic Yucatecan food, cerveza and agua fresca. Round-trip transportation from downtown is included on this small-group tour, limited to 12 people.

Wonderful friendly & knowledgeable guide. Local restaurant choices were great, food delicious & varied. Visit to the farmers market was so interesting & Erin’s description of all the many spices, produce, meats & fish was fascinating.

The food was delicious and our guide (Erin) was so knowledgeable about the local culture and the food. The food portions were not overwhelming (as we have had on other food tours that we have done) and the selection was quite varied. We definitely got to eat in some amazing family owned restaurants that wouldn't have otherwise popped up on our radar.

Met by Jerry our guide, there were only 2 of us on the day and we had a fabulous tour of eateries off the beaten track. Felt safe and secure at all times, food was delicious at all the stops and authentic with as much or as little spice as you wanted. Jerry was very knowledgeable on history and the cuisine, the market stop off was a delight too. Really enjoyed our time.

We were a group 10 and good transportation was provided. We visited 3 traditional restaurants, the central market and a bakery. The businesses were certainly out of the tourist district and where the locals would frequent. Everywhere we went we felt welcomed, we tried a variety of local dishes, learned about some culture, history, popular cooking practices and dishes. The visit to the central market was great, nice to see where the local restaurants are going to pickup a majority of their ingredients. Our guide was knowledgeable and a great communicator. It was worth the price.

The cuisine was tasty, but the portions were quite small considering the price. Additionally, it felt odd to share food with strangers, like when they placed a small plate of ceviche for four of us to split. The tour guide was great and probably the best part. The whole thing just felt like they were being very stingy which is not Mexican culture which made sense towards the end which she revealed that the business was ran by an American.

Educational tour that also tastes great! We hit 4 different family owned restaurants off the beaten path each chosen for a specific dish and the local market where everything is purchased! They were all delicious!
