You will spend approximately 2 hours with our Chef learning about Mexican cuisine, the secret to a tasty guacamole, how to use the different ingredients and seasonings, and of course, the best part, being able to eat all those delicious dishes. Also, remember that you will have an Open Bar throughout your stay, so you must try a Margarita!
After the class, a relaxing 30-minute massage with the best masseuses in Mahahual will be waiting for you. At the end you can relax and enjoy the rest of the day in our pool (towels included) having a drink and enjoying the rest of your day.

Macarena was wonderful. We made guacamole, ceviche and for the people in our party that did not eat fish she had them make salsa. All was delicious. The massage was amazing and the margaritas were delicious and plenty of them.

What an outstanding experience this was ! You can’t book thru the cruise lines—highly recommend seeking alternatives before selecting what the cruise lines offer because then you’d miss experiences like this! Catrina restaurant is an easy short walk once you exit the Costa Maya port. We booked a cooking class for 2 and our chef was Macarena, who turned this potentially ordinary day into a personalized 5 star experience for us. Unlike the last cooking class we did, we each had our own station and made our own versions of guacamole, salsa and fresh fish ceviche. An open bar was available-we did local beers and margaritas. During the class we also sampled local tequila and mezcal. Macarena was friendly, personable and accommodating. She told engaging stories about her life and showed us spectacular photos of her diving adventures in the area. When we finished our lunch, we were treated to a maginificent 30 minute massage that blew away 99% of past massages I’ve paid $$$ for. The two biggest thing we learned: toasted sesame seeds will elevate any Mexican dish from really good to impossibly delicious, and habanero peppers in “micro” doses is way better than jalapeños. Macarena and crew: thank you for a dazzling day in Mahahual. If we are ever blessed enough to come back this way, we will book you again. Readers—do not miss this experience!!!

THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN! Macarena is such an amazing host and so fun. She made sure we were taken care of at all time with plenty of water and margaritas! All the guacamole ingredients were very fresh and under Macarenas instruction we were able to make delicious Guac and Ceviche. The massage was extremely relaxing and the masseuse was very gentle and helpful when getting on and off the table. This was the best bachelorette party experience I had 🥰 can’t wait to go back!

We did this as a family of 5-I’ve got teenage boys who aren’t easy to please and each of them said this was the highlight of our family cruise!

The place was a short walk from the port - of course getting out the port was a little challenging as the last thing the port wants you to do is leave!
The staff was very nice. The class was not as advertised, no tacos to be seen, only guac and ceviche - both of which was nice and fun to make. The bar service was good. The pool was not available and frankly looked very rough, so not sure I would have gone in it if it was open. The massage was ok.
I wouldn't do this again.

Macarena welcomed us warmly, was very personable and presented herself in a very professional manner. Her work group were excellent ad well. It was so much fun!! We also were introduced & educated about the culture there. We are so happy we participated in this event. We will recommend to others.

This excursion was a blast! We were coached on how to make hand made guacamole and cerviche with all of the ingredients (avocados, purple onions, garlic, tomatoes, limes, salt pepper, fish, lemon juice, cucumbers, mango, etc.) being provided. Plenty of tortillas chips made it a feist for all of us and the open bar provided plenty of the best margaritas we've ever enjoyed not to mention the tequila shots we also enjoyed. The excursion also included a nice, relaxing massage as well as access to a swimming pool. It turned out to be an afternoon of fun, great food, and plenty of relaxation! Highly recommend this excursion!!

Ahhhhmazing!!! Staff took great care of us and the food was awesome! It is off the beaten path, so pay attention to the directions. But so worth it.

This was an excellent activity for our family of four ranging 14-75 years old. The staff was friendly. Knowledgeable and interested in our having a good time. I would not hesitate to book this again

The guacamole and ceviche instruction were good. We had plenty to eat and the presentation was interesting. The massage was very nice! The pool part was lacking as the pool area was very antiquated and not inviting at all. The workers were very attentive and service was great.
