1. Colosseum
Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, is the greatest entertainment venue of all times. It was built on the behest of the Emperor Vespasian between 72 and 80 AD. Discover more about this majestic monument with your local and expert guide. Learn about its history, features and facts about the largest amphitheatre ever built. There were roughly 200 entertainment venues like this all throughout the Roman Empire. It was built with more than 1 million tons of materials, including travertine, marble and cement. The games were free and paid for by the Emperor, who wanted to show the greatness of the Roman Empire. Hundreds of thousands of Gladiators, Animals and Convicts fought and died here over almost five centuries. The inauguration games were held here by Titus in 80 AD, and lasted 100 days. Gladiators and animals were brought here to fight from all corners of the known world, to provide an amazing entertainment for the people of Rome.
2. Palatine Hill
The Palatine Hill is everywhere started. Rome was first established here in 753 BC, by the hands of Romulus, allegedly the first King of Rome. The archaeologists found traces of settlements from the Bronze Age, and this proves that the foundation date given is quite accurate. Today the remains of the the imperial palaces can be seen. The Palatine hill was chosen by Romulus as it was deemed to be the best of all the 7 hills in Rome, thanks to its central position that was simply ideal. The ancient civilizations tended to choose the high grounds close to rivers for their early settlements. This gave a strategic advantage in case of military attacks as well as against the frequent floods of the water streams. The Palatine Hill is where the houses of the Kings of Rome, Palaces of the Emperors and notable people were.
3. Roman Forum
The Roman Forum was the very center of Rome. This where some of the most important buildings of ancient Rome. The forum was an outdoor plaza where people gathered to discuss political and civil life matters. In the area there were temples, basilicas and palaces of power. The Roman Forum is where the politics of Rome where shaped, business was made and the justice was administered. This was an interesting tour. Frederica did a great job, she gave us a lot of history and information about all of the things we saw. She did a good job fitting everything in despite the long wait in line to get through security at the Colosseum. The pace was good, didn't feel rushed and she gave opportunities to take photos, etc.

Absolutely incredible sights! This was our first time seeing all of these places and Alessandra was fantastic! She shared so much information but kept it informal and fun. I’d recommend this tour to anyone visiting for first time and wanting a fun yet informative morning.

The Colosseum tour was fantastic! Would highly recommend joining a tour group for sightseeing as the lines can get quite long. The view from Palatine Hill was incredible. Our tour guide was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the history!

Climbing the very steep stairs in the colosseum.
It was also interesting to see the modern shops situated under the arches on the upper levels just as they would have been in Roman times.

guide Elisabetta Lepre: very knowledgeable and sociable, she answered all my questions making me understand everything very well. Good and very nice. The organization was more than perfect! I fully recommend this experience, especially for the breathtaking view you can see from the Paladin.

During the peak season, the guide was very apt at finding spots in the shade for him to talk about ancient Rome. I felt it was worth the money, considering the ridiculous lines that existed not being in a tour. Worth every penny in that regard.
