Discover all the best Frascati has to offer from its charming city center, beautiful views and vineyards, an historic family-run winery, and fresh local cuisine. This half-day tour from Rome will stimulate your senses and rejuvenate your spirit. Frascati is an easy 25 minute train ride from Rome and is part of the Castelli Romani or ‘Roman Castles. Things move at a slower pace in Frascati. Nowhere is this fact better represented than in the the way food is produced and prepared. Porchetta is cooked in a wood burning oven for over 8 hours. The olive oil is extra virgin and cold pressed. The pasta is all hand-made. Our wine is still made with ancient techniques first used by the Romans. Here, the local baker, winemaker, tavern owner, and restaurant owner all value organic and locally sourced products. Not because its trendy, but because it’s tradition!

This was a great way to relax and get outside of Rome for a day.
We took the metro to Termini. Then we went upstairs and got on the 9:46 Trenitalia train to Frescata Italy which was 20 minutes away.
When we arrived we walked out of the station doors and the tour guide was there with a paper asking which guests have arrived. We split into different vans and wound our way up the hillside to the vineyard.
There was a 20 minute tour of the vineyard where we learned about the moscato grapes that grow in the volcanic, ashy soil in the area. We then went into the cellar area where we tired one wine. More that we did try one red wine but it wasn’t grown in that region—it was grown somewhere else near Rome.
Then we went outside and tried some bread and cheese, and two more glasses of wine. Then the vans came and got us again and took us to Downtown. A tour guide met us there and showed us a bakery and a restaurant. At the restaurant we had bread, cheese, charcuterie, and a plate with gnocchi and a red sauce pasta. It is only a 5 minute walk back to the train station from the restaurant.
Most people in our group took the 3:36 pm train back to Rome. The trains leave very hour at 36 minutes past the hour. There is only one train platform and all trains go to Rome— So you can’t mess it up. Trains run until 9:36pm which is the last train of the night.
There are shops here but they are CLOSED from 1-4pm which is most of Europe.

12 friends had a wonderful trip to Frascati. Very interesting to see and learn about wine production, nice guided tour of the city and a brilliant lunch afterwards. All communication with Dominique was good. A very professional arrangement, but still absolutely personal! I give the Classic Half-Day Wine Tour in Frascati my best recommendation.

This tour was great! We learned so much about the wine making process and why Frascati has such amazing wine! The wine caves and history of them were so interesting! Our guide at the winery was so knowledgeable and kind. She is very experienced and a certified wine taster. Top notch! Town of Frascati is quaint and beautiful. Food was good. Would recommend to anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Roma for a few hours. Oh, last but not least, the wine is molto bene ❤️

Visiting the 16th century artisanal winery in Frascati was a truly wonderful experience! An amazing day right from the start. When we arrived at the winery, an exuberant Paola greeted us with open arms and made us feel extremely welcomed. She was well detailed in explaining the origins/history of the winery and included many personal, family stories. The setting was wonderful and was very relaxing. Exploring the cave was fascinating and we tasted the first out of three delicious wines there. After the cave, we were escorted to an outdoor setting among the olive trees where we tasted two more wines. Cheeses, breads, and wine cookies were served as well. After the vineyard tour, we then went into the charming town of Frascati where we walked with our guide, Joanna, who had a bubbly personality. She showed us the local sites with a great wealth of knowledge. We were eventually escorted to a quaint restaurant, Osteria Dell'Olmo, where the food, wine, and comradery with the other guests and owner (wish I recalled his name!) was outstanding. Our driver, Marco, was prompt and was a safe driver. Lastly don't want to forget the family dog, Orzo I believe was his name, who was as friendly as can be. This was definitely a favorite, personalized experience while visiting Rome. Everything was top notch!

This was a fantastic experience, a highlight of our trip to Rome. It was extremely well organized, and each part was thoroughly enjoyable. The winery visit with Paola was fantastic- she was a passionate, knowledgeable and kind host, providing a great introduction to local Roman wine and wine making history. The vineyard is in a spectacular setting. Following our time with her, we were transported to the village for a tour with Giovanna who was also a lovely, friendly and fun host. She obviously loves her town and it’s understandable why. She showed us around and then took us to a local restaurant for a great lunch where the chef/owner joined us in conversation for a bit. Really, the whole experience was first rate and we highly recommend it!
