My partner and I did the Chocolate & Margarita Workshop and had an excellent time with our tour guide, Patty. She engaged us in the history and culture of the Mayan people as well as the connection to things we know well today. She was knowledgeable and charming. Making chocolate was a cool process and the chocolate margarita was delightful! Highly recommend doing the whole thing.

We did this as an excursion with our cruise line and really enjoyed it. Our guide Angel was very knowledgeable, showed us some beautiful views of the coastline on the way to the Mayan Cacao company, and taught us a lot about tequila. The experience itself consisted of making a lime, mango and chocolate margarita, and all were tasty. It was a nice small group alternative to the beach.

Our guide Angel was amazing. He was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We learned so much about the culture behind and history of cacao. Then, made our own. We spent the rest of the day smelling like chocolate.
All the staff was very friendly. The gift shop has reasonable prices.

I highly recommend! Not only did I learn so much about the history of cocoa, but also how it is made. We got to see different plants that the Mayans grew as well. Making our own chocolate and then making chocolate margaritas was very educational and delicious! And our guide, Roberto, also gave us a lesson in tequila and how to correctly drink it! I would do this tour again. Go, you won't regret it!
