This tour was great! We were among the first maybe 30 people into Chichen Itza when it opened and got to take some photos before it got busy (and most importantly, got to see it before it got too hot!). Chichikan cenote was beautiful and a welcome relief as it got hotter. Pickup/drop off was smooth.

That said, you get what you pay for:

1. If you're looking to take good photos, our guide tried to limit us to only looking at/photographing the main temple from the backlit side until he was well into his guided tour which meant that anyone who didn't leave the tour for a bit didn't get good photos until they were full of people — but he scoffed that only influencers would need to leave the tour to take photos. It would make more sense to start from spots that are more photographic while there are fewer people in the way...

2. At the cenote, we felt very pushed for time which could have been alleviated by skipping the "shaman" / "local shopping" part of the experience. Also the "tequila tasting" isn't really that — it's a push for you to buy $60 bottles of tequila, and as soon as I mentioned not having checked luggage to carry it home in (after one small sample), that was the end of my tasting experience.

So overall, I would recommend the tour, but it is a budget tour aimed at the masses.

We had an amazing day with Omar - everything went smoothly and Omar provided clear direction throughout (required clothing, footwear, etc and timeframes). Omar spoke in both Spanish and English during our tour - this was super helpful but could not have been easy so thank you for your efforts! We would fully recommend Omar and his team to our friends during upcoming trips to Mexico! :) the cenote was spectacular and of course, chichen Itza!!

Arriving before the crowds at Chechin Itza and heat was great and the Cenote was stunning. Our guide Frank was very informative. However a very long day. Trip was advertised as 4.30am pickup and 3.30pm drop off. We did not return until 7.30pm. No water available on the coaches.

The guide, Ramiro, was good. He shared important information about the Mayans and essential facts about the Chichen Itza. However, he lacks the initiative to help the guests in taking photographs.

The driver, Jose, was also amazing. He drove smoothly the entire tour, despite the heat and the distance.

I specifically chose this tour to avoid the crowds. However, the tour started late. We were supposed to be picked up earlier at 4:00am but we were picked up at 5:10am for the early access tour. But anyway, we still arrived before 9:00am so, it’s still a good thing.

Also, the night before, the tour company messaged us and were asked to prepare 39 USD for the Chichen Itza tax, so we prepared the exact amount for our group. Then, when the bus arrived, the guide said it’s now $40! They should have told us in advance so that we can prepare the amount for the entire group! He didn’t even give us a receipt.

So, just be careful with these “hidden” charges.

The lunch included in the tour is a Mexican buffet. There were tacos, chicken, rice, beans, vegetable empanadas and a Mexican soup.

Also, you are not allowed to go down the cenote unless you have a life jacket. You have to purchase it beforehand from the guide in order to receive a discount. If you purchase it on site, it’s a little more expensive.
