We attended this tour at the end of December 2023, 2 weeks after the cyclone hit Cairns. We were given notice of an alternate itinerary given road closures and landslides, which we accepted. However, the revised itinerary was not worth the money, and I would recommend anyone attending this tour on the alternate itinerary to reconsider until the original itinerary, which had rave reviews, is reinstated.

We were taken to Kuranda, where every single shop and market was closed given it was 9:30 in the morning. We were then taken to get ice cream at 10:30am - way too early. The 30 minutes we had at Barron Falls and Port Douglas were nice, and the Daintree River Cruise was just ok. Lunch at Daintree Village was also average - the food was fine and town seemed deserted. One of the few upsides was having Brendan as our tour guide. He was great - super enthusiastic and always checking in on everyone.

Although we had this revised and unfortunately pretty subpar itinerary, we were not offered any monetary concessions (like a 50% refund) - we were still charged full price. I’m sure this tour on its normal route is wonderful, but we were definitely underwhelmed with the alternate, to say the least, and not happy that we were charged so much for an itinerary that was honestly pretty boring.

Trip was canceled due to Cyclone. Company said they sent text and email but they didn’t. I called the operator and left a message, 3 days later and no communication. I would

Our guide Roger was great! We learned a lot about the plants and animals of the rainforest and spotted lots of wildlife. Lunch was good and the tour was well timed.

This tour is an amazing opportunity to check out many of the best nature attractions around Cairns in one day! From swimming at Mossman Gorge to the sand between your toes on the beach below Cape Tribulation, to learning about the plant and animal/insect residents of the Daintree Rainforest (the oldest rainforest on the planet) which you also drive through for most of the day, this tour packs a potent punch.

It helped that I had an amazing tour guide (Bruce).

Another note: Cairns Adventure Group (the provider of this tour) is excellent in general - I did another tour with them during my visit (full-day tubing and whitewater rafting) and highly recommend them.

Our guide Stuey, was amazing. He was a great storyteller. He shared stories of close encounters with crocs and other wild animals. He showed us ways people can use the wild to survive if they know how. He made sure we really saw the beauty around us. But when he said that we’d be fine swimming in the Daintree in our Skivies because we’d be dry before we walked back to the bus—he lied. Oh well.

Our tour guide Stew was ready to share his knowledge of the tropical forests with all in the group and made our walk through the rain forest memorable. If snacks with cut fruits, cookies and coffee could be provided at Mossman Gorge, it would provide additional value.

1, We didn’t go to Mount Alexandra.
2, We didn’t go to Daintree Ice cream company because the guide said there is going to have a surprise trip if you chose not to go to the Daintree ice cream company. As a result we chose not to go to daintree ice cream company. And he took us to go to another ice cream company. We thought the surprise trip is about hiking or something…
3, when we got on the bus, the driver shouted “back of the seat back of the seat”…after me and my mom said good morning. I think his self-entitled and toxic humor has been misplaced for long time.
4, we didn’t stay at Mossman gorge for two hours as the itinerary says.

Basically just a bus ride between two forest walkways: you get ten mins or so in the rainforest and 45 in Mossman Gorge, with a stop for ice cream in between. Worth it to see the beautiful coastline between Port Douglas and Cairns but you could easily do it in a car.

One sour note was the stop at a cafe for lunch, which had a rude owner who actively seemed to dislike receiving customers/tourists.

This trip was well worth the money. Plenty to see and do. Some beautiful sights and a good variety of places to see. Our guide was excellent and very knowledgeable and had some interesting experiences to tell us about. We picked up the trip from Port Douglas which was ideal for this area
