Firstly, coach travel was comfortable and easy to find the guide etc.
Definitely worth visiting the city for a day trip and Bratislava itself was friendly, cheap and had some nice cultural highlights and great views!
The tour guide from this experience was awful, too many statistics and facts, no enthusiasm or engagement, she did not check to see if everyone was following and stopped at random points to share information not relevant to the setting. The tour was so bad, we left half way through to go and explore by ourselves.
The boat ride was overrated, it’s just like public transport and not a cruise at all.

Seeing the old town was wonderful, and our guide was okay. However, the castle was disappointing as it was bare.

Firstly, Bratislava is a lovely place to visit. I loved my time there.
Read the reviews before booking. I’ve done heaps of Viator tours and this has been the worst. It’s no one’s fault, the guide used a small speaker which I couldn’t really hear her.
You get on a bus, dropped off, walking tour for 1.5 hours then left there. Your finished the walking tour by 11:30am, catamaran back is at 18:30. You can ask for an earlier bait ride back but it’ll cost you at least an extra €10 if they have slots available.
I’d recommend you take a bus to Bratislava, walk around the old town yourself and then take a bus back. It wasn’t worth the money at all.

The day trip to Bratislava was amazing. We were picked up from our hotel exactly on time. The driver was friendly and gave us information on how the tour was going to be even though it was not his job. There was no guid on the bus but wr were met by a guid in Bratislava. She was very good, informative, although not that friendly she did her job extremely well. The free time was more than enough to explore the city. Amazing tour and I highly recommend it.

The trip was worth while but had some flaws. While the guide was I thought quite knowledgeable she only stayed with us for an hr and half to leave us on our own for the next 6 hrs. This was a bit long as there were not the museums to occupy time.
The so called river cruise element by catamaran was a waste of time. It was dark so nothing to see and if it was light we wouldn’t have seen anything other than the banks. What really annoyed was we were put in the middle of the boat right next to the toilets and my wife and I were given seats in different rows.

The departure from Vienna was smooth and the staff were friendly and attentive.
Unfortunately the weather on the day of my trip was cold, rainy and very windy. So I decided to not stand around for too long and listen to the explanations from the tour guide which were often too lengthy. I rather opted to explore the town on my own and had an amazing time, including doing some shopping at one of their large new shopping centres (Eurovea).
As mentioned by other travellers, the return trip on the catamaran leaves quite late and therefore there is not much to see as the boat ride largely takes place in darkness.
Of course, if you wanted to, you could just book a bus ticket and train ticket by yourself as it easy enough to get there. I preferred to do it via Viator and not have all the hassles of finding my way around.
Overall, I had a lovely day in Bratislava and would recommend.

Very easy journey to and from Vienna to Bratislava. Ivan was a fountain of knowledge in Bratislava, we enjoyed the tour and the suggestions for seeing more of the city. The city mueseum and Tower entrance were excellent.
