Our forest, project that started back in 2000, reforesting cattle farms, in the seek for forest recovering in la Fortuna, has become home for a great local flora and fauna variety throughout the years, very important for their preservation. It is also a great place for birdwatching.
Throughout the tour, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to observe a variety of wildlife, including toucans, basilisks, and other exotic creatures. Your guide will share interesting facts about the animals and plants you encounter, giving you a deeper appreciation for the natural beauty of the area.
The enjoy and respect of our mother nature help us have an authentic experience in the forest.

We particularly loved our guide, Mar. She found sloths for us, plus showed us a variety of insects, lizards, and frogs. She had a lovely personality and was a wealth of information. Try to get Mar.

We had a wonderful tour with our guide Mar! Her English was great, which was a relief since our Spanish isn’t great. She told us all about the birds, plants, trees, bugs, and sloths!! It was wonderful. She had a tripod and scope and used them to take some great shots with our iPhones.

If you don’t hire a tour guide, you will not see the animals. The tour guides have an eye to see the animals way up in a tree. They use a monocular lens and will take pictures with your phone for you. We got to see sloths, poison dart frog, owl, baby sloth with mother, leaf cutter ants, iguana, termite nest, and several kinds of birds. If you want to see animals, I would highly recommend this tour.

We went to see sloths and saw a dozen or more on our 2 hour guided tour! Our guide, Mar, was delightful, diligent, and capable. She took fabulous photos with our camera. Mar speaks English very well and shares my values concerning the environment so was very interesting to converse with.

Mar was an excellent guide, finding the animals before the other guides and showing them where to look. The couple we were with complimented me multiple times for finding this tour.
The area had plenty of sloths to view, which is what we were looking for. We saw them close up. One was a mother and baby. Mar was very knowledgeable about the sloths, other animals, trees, and plants.
We also saw an iguana, howler monkeys (we think), and several species of birds, including a hummingbird.
Although it may sound strange, I've always wanted to see leafcutter ants. We saw a wide trail of them that went on for many yards. The best trail anywhere.
The pineapple treat by the pond after the tour while we watched dozens of birds coming for dinner was a great finale.
Mar was also able to recommend an excellent restaurant for dinner.

Our guide Alex was the best! He was very nice, experienced, informative and spoke great English which was really helpful. He does many tours a day so has a sore neck but he knows where all the animals should be and even found 2 frogs for us on a very hot day. He had a great scope and took photos with each of our phones through it so we could have amazing photos. I would highly recommend this tour as I would not have seen any of the animals by myself and the walk would have been pretty boring.

I cant say how impressed we were with the tour. We saw so many animals and birds including sloths, frogs, owls, snakes, and more sloths, lizards, spikers, etc. Without a guide we would have seen 5-10% of what we did. You have to get a guide and hopefully its Alex, who is very very knowlegeable and enthousiatic.
It also a very easy walk as the land is flat.
Dont miss this 2 hour tour!!

Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. He spotted mother sloths and their babies and then would share his spotting scope. The sloths are so hard to spot that none of us would ever have seen them. We also were treated to seeing toucans, an owl, and a bat while touring. The tour begins and ends by a pond with fruit feeders and after the tour we were able to see many beautiful birds including 2 species of toucans. We sat, had a drink, and enjoyed the flying jewels. The owner was Mr. Audubon of Costa Rica, very friendly and knowledgeable. Worth the money!

Despite the rain, we had a lovely time on this tour. Our guide Jason was so knowledgeable and clearly loved his work. He was able to spot 3 sloths and a baby, which we certainly wouldn’t have seen without him and his spotting scope. He used a laser pointer and helped us see other amazing animals as well. Jason helped us by taking our phones and taking pictures through his spotting scope. Also, it seems like each tour guide works with one family so you aren’t stuck in the back of a group trying to see/hear. This tour was about 1.5 hours and so close to town. Don’t miss it!

Very good experience, passionate and knowledgeable guides. Saw a lot of wildlife, around six sloths including babies, red eyed tree frog, emerald basilisk and plentiful bird life. Your entrance allows you to return later and watch bird feeding in the afternoon. Then we saw yellow throated toucans, collared aracari and too many others to name here.
Tour takes around two hours, they do a lot of other activities as well. One small moan is there cafe does not display a price list.
This experience is well worth two hours of your time if you are in La Fortuna. This project has a lot of integrity so please support it.
