With PR having 3 of the 5 bioluminescent bays in the world, we had to go see for ourselves! It is a pretty amazing sight to see! And we got a nice little education while in the bay. We had perfect weather and were a bit worried that we took the earlier slot and thought we may not be able to see the glow very well but the sun went down quickly and by the time we arrived in the bay, it was pitch black except for the moon, stars and small flashlights our guides had on their backs!
We were picked up at 4 and the drive, with traffic, took about 1 1/2 hours to get there (typically about an hour to get there). There were about 30 people in our tour and we had 5 guides so we were basically assigned to a guide that kept track of us. JOE was our guide and he was the best!! My adult daughter and I ended up being towed by him both ways because I could not get the hang of it!! LOL!! Our family is all pretty physically fit but rowing works your shoulders like nobody's business!!
Tip: Cover yourself with bug spray! I did not spray my face and got a huge bite on my cheek. And bring a change of clothes. Even though you are in a kayak, not splashing, all of us had wet bottoms by the end. The place where we checked in kept all of our bags safely. You are encouraged to bring nothing in the kayak. They will take your family pic before you leave and you can get it off their FB page.

This tour was awesome! The bay itself is beautiful with calm and warm water. Our tour guides were extremely helpful and also very informative when explaining the bay! Thank you to Emely, Joe, Samuel, Michi, and AJ!

We had a really good time kayaking to the bioluminescence area. The guides were all really helpful and had great attitudes. We felt very safe even though much of the trip was in the dark.

I’ve never seen so many stars in the sky at once. It was thrilling to kayak in the pitch black of the night and to see the bioluminescence of the bay. Lots of fun.

Amazing! Emily, Niche, and AJ were funny, helpful, and knowledgeable. The bioluminescence was so cool! Know that it's not going to look like the photoshopped images on Pinterest and you will love it. It was one of the most magical things I've seen. The kayak ride was a little harder going to the destination than coming from because of the current but it wasn't bad. I would 100% do it again!

Great tour guides with a lot of knowledge of the bay and ocean lagoons! Sting rays accompanied us into the ocean waves. Such a great experience for teens!

This kayaking adventure was an anniversary gift for my daughter and son in law. They said it was a unique experience. The van picked them up on time and driver was friendly and courteous. They were given free time to kayak around to get comfortable with paddling and saw the sun go down. The guides were knowledgeable and very observant about safety. Then each kayak had a small light in front to paddle to Bio Bay. They thought paddling through the mangroves was an awesome experience. One suggestion was that they wished they had more time under the tarp to experience the fluoresce experience. They would have liked more time observing this phenomenon.

Fun and new experience. Great for beginner kayakers as well. The guides were knowledgeable and funny! We also appreciated having travel from/to San Juan. Would highly recommend!
