Rita is superb! She gave the tour through the eyes of a true Venetian. Her love of the city, its history and culture shone!
My 19 year old son made the comment that St. Mark’s and the Doges palace would have been overwhelming had it not been for Rita!

Spent way too much time in a small portion of the Doge palace. Didn’t go to a lot of it and then had like 10 mins to rush through the Basilica. Then once we finished we were told we had to group up for the gondola ride. Which that’s not what we expected and it was just awkward because there are only two good seats on the gondola and the others are meh. I would highly recommend doing something else to view these. Or find one with out the gondola ride at the end so maybe they aren’t rushing to get you there.

Our guide Philipo was terrific. The tour of the Doge Palace was excellent. Sadly, there was too little time (20-25 minutes) spent seeing and/or explaining the history within Basilica San Marco, possibly because our guide needed to rush to get us to the gondola rides.

Elena was an excellent, engaging, and knowledgeable tour guide! We enjoyed our tour. The gondola ride was okay. There was a chance for a group to have their own. My husband and I were celebrating 10 years together and had the coordinator partnered with our tour guide, they could’ve read the room to perhaps provide the couple their own over a the other group. We felt bad for the girl who became a third wheel for a moonlit ride we were hoping was going to be romantic. The gondola drivers shout between each other either way, so don’t expect a romantic ride in the moonlight if that’s what you’re looking for! Aside from the gondola ride, we had a great experience.

This was the most expensive tour of my trip. My train was a little late. Then the water bus in Venice took a long time to get to where we needed to go. I called and texted we would be late, but I understood the group could not wait for us. I asked if I could get my tickets emailed or texted to me so we could still go on our own and my money wouldn’t be wasted. The answer was “No. It said no refunds when you signed up for the tour.” I wasn’t asking for a refund. I was asking for my tickets. That I paid for. We could have seen the Duomo and Doges Palace on our own. The Gondola ride might have been difficult without our group. Idk….
So I spent MORE money, had a private Gondola tour with no wait!
Later that day, the company messaged that they could give me another tour at a discounted rate…the next day. Nope! I already toured myself!
Venice was beautiful and we enjoyed it very much WITHOUT the expensive tour!

We booked this tour through Viator. It was a bit difficult to find the meeting spot between the two pillars since it was our first time in Venice, but folks are pretty helpful in providing directions. Our guide was Philipo (or Filipo?) and he was a treasure trove of information. He provided good historic context, while also pointing out several things unique to Venice. His dry sense of humor made the walking tour very interesting and informative.

Our tour guide Elena, a local to Venice, was amazing! She was so knowledgeable and gave us an in depth understanding of the history of Venice, the Basilica and Doge’s palace. She was very funny engaging and full of life! The tour it self was really good balancing the art and history of the basilica and the palace. The gondola right was the perfect way to end the tour! I highly recommend this!
