In this half-day tour you will understand that there are many differences between Pompeii and Herculaneum.
We will start to see the most important public buildings that the archaeologists found in Pompeii.
In Herculaneum, we will instead investigate the private buildings.
We'll also explain the differences of the eruption that buried the two cities and that permits to see in Pompeii the plaster casts and in Herculaneum the carbonized wood of two thousand years ago.

Tour - Pompeii and Herculaneum
In Oct., I spent ten days on the Salerno Peninsula aka Amalfi Coast. Researching the trip, there were numerous areas that I wanted to visit and learn more about. I also researched many guides on line and kept coming back to Roberto as presenting the most consistent outlines of the specific areas that I wanted to visit. I wasn’t disappointed with my choice.
Pompeii and Herculaneum are large areas to cover. I found that Roberto started out with overall explanations of the sites and then focused on individual aspects. He often returned the presentation to points which he had covered explaining in detail coordinating the relationships between sites and individual aspects .
I felt that Roberto had a consistent tour plan to both sites and that I was shown an indepth walking tour which covered the highlights of the sites.

Amazing!! This was not our first time going to Pompeii but it was definitely the most informative, Interesting and exciting. Roberto’s ability to give you a basic comprehensive approach to these sites, provide understandable information to novices and be attentive to everyone is superior to any guide! If you are considering going on your own, don’t ! You will miss out. He and the tour were amazing!!

Roberto’s knowledge of the Greek and Roman civilizations was outstanding and he made the tours of these 2 historical sites come to life. Without his knowledge and explanations we would have missed 90% of the true magic of these sites. Roberto is also very conscious of the tour group’s physical abilities to ensure everyone is safe and comfortable.

Roberto was incredible! My husband and I were travelling with our parents around Italy. Under Roberto's advise, we scheduled a tour to Herculaneum (2 hours) and Pompeii (4 hours, on the following day). Roberto has great knowledge of the history of both excavation sites. As he brought us around the sites, we shared with us several insights and details that helped us understand other other excavation sites later in our tour. Roberto was kind and patient thorough both days. He was extremely thoughtful, making sure to incorporate small breaks and lesser steps for our parents. Would love to tour with him again. Grazie e arrivederci Roberto!

Our half day tour of the ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum with Roberto was simply amazing. We were a family of four with two young adults. We learned so much more on his private tour than we would’ve otherwise without him. He steered us efficiently through the crowds and ahead of lines. The pacing of the tour was spot on - not rushed and didn’t feel anything was lacking at the end. There was no way we could’ve covered as much as we did in the amount of time we had without him. Roberto is a great story teller and there was no question he couldn’t answer. There is no doubt he has a vast knowledge of Greek and Roman history, and about the excavations, yet he didn’t overwhelm you. His English is also excellent. We really enjoyed his tour and felt very well taken care of - an excellent tour guide. We left captivated by what we saw and his stories of these ancient Roman cities. From arranging transportation to the sites to guiding us through the ruins he made the day seamless. Thank you Roberto for a wondrous day!

We joined forces with another family and Roberto took us around Herculaneum in the morning and Pompeii at lunchtime. We finished around 2pm which was great for us in the heat. His explanations were insightful and he was exceptionally knowledgeable. He brought the tour to life with his vivid descriptions. His English was perfect.

Roberto is the best. He has deep knowledge of both Greek and Roman history in the Campania area which really helps one to imagine what everyday life was really like for the people who lived in Paestum 2,500 years ago and in Pompeii/ Herculaneum 2,000 years ago. Very kind and patient and answers any questions clearly, in good English, with an explanation “non-experts” can understand so that the stones and ruins tell a story which makes sense. I’ve taken three tours with Roberto over the past several years and have scheduled two more with him for August with different groups of friends. Highly recommended.

Roberto was the best. The tour was not only educational but fun too. He was able to tailor the tours to best fit our interests and attention span. Very easy to talk too and eager to get to know us.
