Only Tour to Avila and Segovia Rated 5 Star - Certificate of Excellence

On this Tour we will visit the cities of Segovia and Ávila, declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO on this day trip from Madrid. We will visit the old town of Ávila with after crossing its 11th century walls, we will visit the exterior of the cathedral and the Basilica of San Vicente, the Plaza Mayor, and the interior of the Birthplace of Santa Teresa de Jesús. We will make sure the food is not included, or we will have free time. Then we will start the second part of the excursion, our drestino, SEGOVIA. We will contemplate its huge Roman aqueduct, the exterior of the Cathedral of Segovia, the Plaza Mayor and the Alcázar of Segovia, a great fortress throughout history, which reminds us of the Castle of Snow White. We will finish our Walking Tour and return to Madrid.

I loved the tour guide, Oscar, he is a great storyteller. He was wonderful at giving a great overview of historical facts through anecdotes, examples and cultural explanations. Overall, an Exceptional experience.

Tour guide was great however there were WAY too many people on this tour! And also screaming toddlers. We walked at a snail’s pace and had to stop every few minutes to make sure everyone was there. Very unpleasant.

The tour was wonderful, however it is important to know that the pick up point is quite terrible. The location is practically an ashtray, and you will be accosted by beggars for money the entire time you wait for the bus. This was not the experience we wanted for our child.

Once you are on the road, and the tour begins, everyone in the family will have a great time. You will see quite a lot in the cities. For a very long day it moves very quickly. Oscar did a great job.

For the meeting point, its a bit far away from the city center but acceptable. However, the shuttle bus was 20 min late and the temperature was very low (3 to 4 degree around) with the chilly wind, we don't expect whole group in 30 ppl around standing outside for that long without caring or rearrange awaiting at a better place. As all the participant is tourist, cloths and accessories may not well planned to suit the wether of Spain, particular caring for participant should be provided.

During the visit, the information presented for the places is too general and lack of depth for the true culture behind. Even worse, the information presented by the tour is less than the information shown on the leftlet taken from information center. Some key information was missing.

For the skills of English presentation, it should be improved due to the accent of spainsh is too strong for us. Its hard to understand.

After the lunch hour around 1:30pm, there is almost no time for rest and no snack time until 4:30pm to 5:00pm. I believe its quite hard for the old man to take over it. It would be good if there is a refreshments in every 1.5 - 2 hours around.

I don't get around very well... so this was perfect.... my friend I traveled with had not been to Spain.. so he kept up with the tour.. I planted myself and waited in Avila for them to come back to the place for lunch, I got to people watch... and in Segovia I did much the same... went to a place to spend the afternoon.. so many locals were taking their long lunch.. so I got away from touristy things and got to watch real people do normal things... one family had a baby toddler.. she we so cute to watch.. a real family sort of bar andl place to eat.....

Tour guides are friendly just that maybe they have to try to speak a bit slower so that we can understand their English better.

I'd hardly recommend this tour. Rafael and the team were amazing! Beautiful places and we could get a lot about the history.

This was a memorable day visiting Avila and Segovia, two ancient and historical cities. Rafael, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and gave us loads of interesting information. My sister and I enjoyed every minute as apart from giving all the information we needed to learn more about the cities, Rafa was also very friendly, professional and funny at times. Bravo! Recommended to wear very comfortable shoes as you need to walk a lot. Highly recommended - Gracias Rafa and Fun and Tickets.

While the sites in Segovia and Avila are worth seeing, I have to recommend passing on this particular tour group. The guides were not friendly to the locals, and it often felt like our tour group was disrespectful to the people living in these cities. At one point we entered a church in the middle of service. Despite the "silencio" signs in the back, the tour guide continued to talk very loudly during the middle of the service while the entire congregation (of locals) stared at our tour group in justifiable annoyance!

The tour guide would make negative side comments about the elderly in the cities as we walked as well.

At the end of the day, we are tourists. But the guides and entire operation need to facilitate respect between the constant tour groups and local communities. It didn't feel right.

We also walked at a crawling pace through both cities, resulting in not seeing as much as I would have liked. We didn't even go onto the wall in Avila, what would seem to be the most interesting thing to do there? But due to the slow pace of the tour we didn't have time.

My recommendation is to figure out transport to these cities separate from this tour group, and then just walk to the sites yourself. It really could be done easily and you would have more time to enjoy the cities without walking in a group of 30 tourists with headphones/radios in their ears. This was the most 'touristy' thing I ended up doing while in Spain, and while they delivered on the promised activities, it still felt like we were cattle being herded to collect money from and then left behind.
