I'm surprised by the overwhelming 5 star reviews for this tour. It was an ok experience, but certainly not excellent.

Overall, I would say the selection and quality of food was ok. The tour was quite long (3.5 hours) and at times was dragging. Our guide did give some interesting history about Puerto Rico. I feel like if you want to try a wide variety of foods, eat at better establishments and/or not spend 3.5 hours on a tour, you're better off doing your own research and going on your own.

As an example, we first tried mofongo on this tour and thought it was alright. We then had mofongo at two other restaurants later on during our stay in PR and those others were much better.

Also, I'm looking at the pictures posted by the operator and can confidently say that we didn't have any of the food dishes pictured (we did have the popsicle and coffee) or visit the street covered with umbrellas.

The tour was a good way of situating oneself in Old San Juan and getting to know a few local foods. The tour guide was friendly, but considering the price, it felt like too much their time was spent on being a crossing guard rather than describing the city.

Our Tour Guide was Marjorie and she was delightful. She introduced us to some local restaurants and coffee shops that we would have never found on our own. She was upbeat and knowledgeable throughout the entire tour. At the end, she provided us with a list of recommended restaurants to try... I would recommend this tour to anyone who describes themselves as a foodie!

We loved our tour with Aleheli, who was rocking an amazing mustache! It was a group of just 12 people so we got lots of time to ask questions and learn about the history of Old San Juan. We started at 10 am with a lovely coffee and ham and cheese pastry from a local coffee roastery, then walked to a lookout and got 500 years of history alongside a tasty Popsicle. After a short walk we had appetizers of ceviche and empanadas, and then walked a bit longer to our main course, where we made our own mofungo! Dessert was at a delicious spot called Chocobar. This tour was definitely worth the price and was a very manageable walk, highly recommend! Aleheli was so friendly and answered everyone's questions with excellent details.

Majorie was an exceptionally talented guide. Informal but very high commitment to community, communication, and providing a great tour. All restaurants were fantastic, it was the most food I have ever eaten in 4 hours- skip breakfast! We should have stayed longer in the area after the tour. Be prepared that the tours starts and ends in different places- this is good but was the only detail I missed. Buy things while your in the stores near restaurants if you can.
