This 9-hour tour will show you the best of Douro, the first Portuguese wine region and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn about Douro and it's evolution all over centuries. Marvel at the sculpted landscape on the best viewpoints over the Douro Valley. Take a 1-hour river cruise, learn about the production of olive oil at a local producer property, visit two Port wine estates (wine tasting included) and enjoy the lunch at a typical portuguese restaurant.

WHAT TO EXPECT

1. Douro River
Most of the tour has the Douro river as the scenic scenary through the day. The wineries that are visited offer incredible views to the river.
2. Peso Da Regua
Whenever possible we stop at the city of Peso da Régua, an historical city of the Douro Valley associated with the commerce of wine. Here we provide our guests a brief explanation about the city and allow some free time for a coffee and pictures.
3. Quinta do Tedo
Quinta do Tedo is one of several wineries that we can visit on our tour. In this visit you will learn about the wine-making process of Quinta do Tedo with a local guide. It includes a guided wine tasting session where you will be explained about the different wines to be tasted. NOTE: wineries or order of wineries visited may differ depending on their availability NOTE 2:Visits at the wineries and river cruises are not fully private and open to external participants.
4. The Douro Valley
In the heart of the Douro Valley you will have the chance to visit Pinhão. In the past Pinhão used to be an important place for commerce and transport of the wine from Douro to Porto. The wine was first commercialized and next shipped in the traditional Rabelo boat to remain aging in Vila Nova de Gaia, just across the river in Porto. In the village of Pinhão we stop for a 1h river cruise as well as we have lunch at a traditional local restaurant. NOTE: Visits at the wineries and river cruises are not fully private and open to external participants.

Quinta do Beijo is the second winery of several wineries that we can visit on our tour. This is a small local winery with very good wines that can not be bought in the city. The visit is usually done by the owner of the property himself while he tells you more about the production and the flavors of its wines. NOTE: wineries or order of wineries visited may differ depending on their availability NOTE 2:Visits at the wineries and river cruises are not fully private and open to external participants.
6. Porto
We return to Porto from Douro Valley close to 6:00 PM, where our guide will leave you at your selected drop off point.

• Possibility of vegetarian or gluten free meal, please advise at time of booking if required;
• Pick-up service starts at 8:00 AM (NOT 8:30 AM)
• We send the exact pick-up time by mail the evening before the tour takes place - please confirm reception of message and be ready in advance for pick-up to avoid delays or missing the tour.
• Douro Valley's temperature is very high in the summer and cold in the winter. Thus, light clothes in summer and warm clothes in the winter are recommended;
• Weather Note: All of our activities happen in covered and protected spaces - we guarantee a safe and comfortable tour despite any weather conditions.
• Not recommended for children - if you are bringing children, please inform us in advance, as car seating is mandatory by Portuguese law.
• You can also be picked up from a private address other than hotels in Porto downtown area/city center only (Vila Nova de Gaia and Matosinhos cities are outside pick-up limits).
• If your address is outside pick-up limits or in an area of difficult access (examples: pedestrian street/narrow street/place with very elevated traffic volume) we will set a meeting point a few minutes away so that you can board our van.
• NOTE TO TRAVEL AGENCIES: While we understand that your office may be closed when we send our confirmations due to different timezones if you do not provide the client's direct contact number/email, you are responsible for contacting the client at the time we send the pick-up details (day before the tour takes place, by the end of the day, UNTIL 23:00 PM, PORTUGAL TIME) - Travel Agencies assume responsibility if the client does not show up due to the lack of communication between them.

Well worth doing this trip if you can. The region is stunning and our guide Tuna was superb with a great knowledge of the area. Both Wineries were really interesting and both different in their type and setting. We really enjoyed the day, a lovely typical Portuguese lunch, river trip and lovely scenery. Perfect!

Fabulous day-long trip with a great guide (Henrique). His knowledge, explanations, and navigating were great. Amazing scenery with spectacular vistas. Local lunch was typical Portuguese - pork, ham, and sausage with starches (potatoes, bread, rice). River cruise was relaxing and enjoyable.

Would totally recommend Oporto Road Trips.
We were lucky to have Diana as our guide for this small group tour. Knowledgeable and professional throughout.
The smaller group allowed us to visit smaller family owned wineries. Lunch was good and given another perspective, seeing the stunning Douro Valley from the river.

Pedro was an incredible tour guide, he was funny and knowledgeable. He was an excellent host for the day, we wish all our tours were with him. Beautiful landscapes and a great day all together. Highly recommend!

Sondra was awesome. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Enjoyed each of the wine tours very much and the chance to try different ports and wines. Group of 8 was perfect size. Boat for an hour was the ideal amount of time - not too long, but a chance to see the river from the water and get some wonderful photos.
Lunch was enjoyable with our other passengers; meal was okay.

Our guide, João Freire picked us up on time and was very friendly. João was very knowledgeable. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend it. We loved the small group experience and loved the stunning views of Douro Valley.
