This 9-hour tour will show you the best of Douro, the first Portuguese wine region and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn about Douro and it's evolution all over centuries. Marvel at the sculpted landscape on the best viewpoints over the Douro Valley. Take a 1-hour river cruise, learn about the production of olive oil at a local producer property, visit two Port wine estates (wine tasting included) and enjoy the lunch at a typical portuguese restaurant.

WHAT TO EXPECT

1. Douro River
Most of the tour has the Douro river as the scenic scenary through the day. The wineries that are visited offer incredible views to the river.
2. Peso Da Regua
Whenever possible we stop at the city of Peso da Régua, an historical city of the Douro Valley associated with the commerce of wine. Here we provide our guests a brief explanation about the city and allow some free time for a coffee and pictures.
3. Quinta do Tedo
Quinta do Tedo is one of several wineries that we can visit on our tour. In this visit you will learn about the wine-making process of Quinta do Tedo with a local guide. It includes a guided wine tasting session where you will be explained about the different wines to be tasted. NOTE: wineries or order of wineries visited may differ depending on their availability NOTE 2:Visits at the wineries and river cruises are not fully private and open to external participants.
4. The Douro Valley
In the heart of the Douro Valley you will have the chance to visit Pinhão. In the past Pinhão used to be an important place for commerce and transport of the wine from Douro to Porto. The wine was first commercialized and next shipped in the traditional Rabelo boat to remain aging in Vila Nova de Gaia, just across the river in Porto. In the village of Pinhão we stop for a 1h river cruise as well as we have lunch at a traditional local restaurant. NOTE: Visits at the wineries and river cruises are not fully private and open to external participants.

Quinta do Beijo is the second winery of several wineries that we can visit on our tour. This is a small local winery with very good wines that can not be bought in the city. The visit is usually done by the owner of the property himself while he tells you more about the production and the flavors of its wines. NOTE: wineries or order of wineries visited may differ depending on their availability NOTE 2:Visits at the wineries and river cruises are not fully private and open to external participants.
6. Porto
We return to Porto from Douro Valley close to 6:00 PM, where our guide will leave you at your selected drop off point.

• Pick-up service starts at 8:00 AM (NOT 8:30 AM)
• We send the exact pick-up time by mail the evening before the tour takes place - please confirm reception of message and be ready in advance for pick-up to avoid delays or missing the tour.
• Douro Valley's temperature is very high in the summer and cold in the winter. Thus, light clothes in summer and warm clothes in the winter are recommended;
• Weather Note: All of our activities happen in covered and protected spaces - we guarantee a safe and comfortable tour despite any weather conditions.
• Not recommended for children - if you are bringing children, please inform us in advance, as car seating is mandatory by Portuguese law.
• You can also be picked up from a private address other than hotels in Porto downtown area/city center only (Vila Nova de Gaia and Matosinhos cities are outside pick-up limits).
• If your address is outside pick-up limits or in an area of difficult access (examples: pedestrian street/narrow street/place with very elevated traffic volume) we will set a meeting point a few minutes away so that you can board our van.
• NOTE TO TRAVEL AGENCIES: While we understand that your office may be closed when we send our confirmations due to different timezones if you do not provide the client's direct contact number/email, you are responsible for contacting the client at the time we send the pick-up details (day before the tour takes place, by the end of the day, UNTIL 23:00 PM, PORTUGAL TIME) - Travel Agencies assume responsibility if the client does not show up due to the lack of communication between them.

This was an awesome tour. Our guide Jorge was very knowledgeable on all details about Portugal history, the places we visited and the wines of the Duoro valley. It was a long and spectacular day with quaint villages through twisty narrow roads while viewing spectacular vineyards. The boat ride was fun and scenic. The stops and food were excellent and Jorge was very detailed to ensure our happiness.

It was a small tour of 8 people and nice to meet everyone from different parts of the world. The van was comfy and Jorge had a headset so we could all hear him. It was relaxing and the scenery extraordinary. Would love to spend moree time in Porto and the Duoro valley!!

Excellent day trip from Porto. Our guide Ivo was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, funny and well organized. The drive through the Douro Valley was spectacular and the river cruise was filled with amazing scenery. We enjoyed both the port and wine tasting stops and the lunch in Pinheo was delicious. It was a great day and good value for the money.

We had a great time on this tour. The tours of the Quinta’s were so informative and interesting, and taking in the scenery on the boat ride was amazing. Lunch was really delicious! I was nervous since it said it was in an old converted school, so I was expecting cafeteria food. It was actually a served multi-course meal with wine, and it was delicious! Our tour guide, Tuna, was funny and taught us a lot about the region on a couple of extra mini stops. Would recommend!

We had a wonderful day with our lovely guide Joao. We were lucky and had magnificent weather, which made our viewing of the Douro Valley exceptional. Our tastings were extremely informative and also great fun. Lunch was filling and tasty. Our boat ride was extremely relaxing and a lovely way to break up the day. Thank you!

This experience was excellent from start to finish. Seamless pick up/drop off at our hotel - not just limited to Douro Valley but fun surprises throughout. Luis was entertaining throughout and went out of his way to teach us about Portugal with his soothing radio voice. Highly recommend - especially with Luis!

We went on a Douro valley tour, small group, guide was Pedro who was knowledgeable without cramming you with facts. Just enough. He stopped at a pretty town called Amirante instead of a petrol station for a short break on the way up and even serenaded us on guitar with some Portuguese songs during one of the wine tastings. We had two, wine in the morning, port in the afternoon, both delicious plus a small tour of each winery and explanation. The unique scenery is as promised. From the heights at the winery and then from the river boat one could see the steep river valleys lined with terraces a bit like paddy fields in Bali. Very relaxing and cool along the river. Lunch included was good plain fare. Highly recommend.

Luis was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable and engaging all day - funny too! The wineries were beautiful and the boat ride was relaxing, it would have been nice for the boat to have commentary as well (Luis was not in boat with us).

I booked this tour on my partners birthday. Pedro was AMAZING from start to finish. He was so knowledgeable and funny. He made my partners special day even better with him being our guide. The tour itself was very organized and punctual. We enjoyed a variety of Port wine as well as a few DOC wine. There were stunning views of the vineyards on our drive to and from Douro valley. This is our top ranked trip thus far! Thank you Pedro for making Kewanis’ birthday special!
