We booked our tour fairly last minute through Tripadvisor as we had thought we could just do it ourselves (which apparently you can’t do?!). Royal Krakow Tours are great though. We were picked up from our hotel (does cost extra) via mini bus and taken to Auschwitz, which is about 90mins from Krakow. Our guide (can’t remember her name annoyingly!) was excellent and very informative. The museum itself could be a lot more interactive, it feels quite basic, and apparently will be in time more engaging(not the fault of Royal Krakow Tours). All in all we were at Auschwitz for over 3hrs, and are glad we saw it. Not sure I’d return in a hurry, as expected it’s very bleak, but I’d recommend booking through Royal Krakow Tours if you want to experience Auschwitz without the hassle of organising yourself.

Our guide Evaline was excellent she shared with us the tragic stories of Aushwitz and Birkenhau with true compassion for those who suffered. It was a hard and humbling experience that we'll never forget. The only downside was the rush to move through the exhibitions but with so many visitors I suppose it's inevitable.

the place to visit is a must but make sure you're guide is english and not french as we couldn't understand a word she said also check your pick up it's not your hotel it's the Auschwitz carpark we had to pay extra for hotel pick up

Efficient pickup, superb tour guide (Evelina) who was extremely knowledgeable about Auschwitz., and sensitive to this site where a million Jews were horrendously killed after suffering a degrading life before being murdered.

Auschwitz is definitely a place to visit, however don't book through Viator, We booked two day trips with these one of them with lunch and on the first trip they changed the time which we booked for 10am and they changed it to 11.50, the driver from royal tours was good though, although lunch will give a miss next time as not very nice, the second tour was for Schindler's Factory and did not receive any tickets(nor did another couple from United kingdom aswell) so we all had to purchase second entry tickets to the museum, we requested a refund to no avail, very poor show, very poor company and by the way the tickets are cheaper on the door (half the price) than paying through Viator as there is no line to skip on any day you just walk in and get your ticket, so paying the extra is pointless.

They changed the timing of the tour from 0900 to 1300 for a 6-7 hour trip the day before so we were not able to go, very disappointing,

This experience was unforgettable !
The tour was very organised and the guide was excellent with so much knowledge of those terrible days .
The only criticism would be is that it was a very long way to walk and we found it difficult to keep up the pace from one particular place to another
The guide would start talking before we were all assembled , which was rather rushed . Also the guide needs to speak much louder so everyone in the group can hear
we were also plagued with heavy rain which is nobody’s fault but
unfortunate

We were picked up bang on time and shown onto large mini bus to settle down for drive to the camps. Piotr our guide (hope spelled it right) was clear with instructions at all points - introducing us to our English speaking guide who was waiting at Auschwitz 1 for our arrival. He was very informative throughout the whole tour. Meeting us after lunch stop at Birkenau.
We selected the lunch option and was welcome! The queues for food were quite lengthy and we didn’t have time for that so having a pre ordered lunch (which was fresh) was perfect.
Safely delivered back to drop off point - all in all a humbling experience not to be missed.
Be prepared, you may not hear until later in the afternoon about precise times of pick up and where but it did come through and we had no complaints- a smooth trip.
