WHAT TO EXPECT

1. Acropolis
Our private tour starts with the visit of the naturally fortified hill of the Acropolis, the cornerstone of Athens existence. You will travel back in ancient times walking among the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the unique Parthenon & the Erechteion. From the top, you will have a panoramic view of the ancient theater of Dionisos & of the Herodion (Odeion of Herodes Atticus).

Our private tour continues with the Olympeion. You will visit the Temple of Zeus and the Hadrian’s Arch.
3. Panathenaic Stadium
Next stop is the famous Panathenaic Stadium (also known as Kallimarmaron) where the first modern Olympic Games were revived on 1896.
4. Presidential Mansion
Next attraction is the Presidential Mansion (ex-Royal Palace) where you will monitor the traditional Change of the Guard.
5. Mount Lycabettus
Our car will then climb you to St. George Lycabettus Hill with the best panoramic view of Athens (ideal place for taking photos).

Make sure you buy your tickets for the Acropolis when you book this tour! You need to buy them separately and you want to go first thing in the morning. We made the mistake of not booking and didn’t realize it until the night before and had to book tickets for the afternoon. It really screwed up the whole day, but our driver was so accommodating and even bought us Greek coffee! If I could do it all again, I would go to the Acropolis first thing in the morning then ask for lots of time to explore the neighborhoods below the Acropolis because we were very rushed. There is a lookout that your driver can take you to that gives you an incredible view of the city. In my opinion, that’s really all that’s worth doing in Athens, and a half-day is plenty of time for that.

We were disappointed that the tour guide/driver was neither informative nor enthusiastic about sharing information about Athens or Greek culture. We were dropped off at certain points without any historical or background information and left on our own. He seemed more interested in making a stop for coffee and breakfast than anything else. He didn’t even seem sure of the itinerary we were to follow. We realize now that we should have done a private walking tour with a guide.

Andrew was very knowledgable and was able to easily get us to the key attractions in Athens. Very comfortable car and he was very accommodating to make sure he had time to complete the tour. Highly recommend him and this tour.

We were greeted by George with a smile and a hand shake. Then our trip through the past and into the future began. George knew we had tickets to the Acropolis at 11 and also the museum whenever we wanted. So after a wonderful lesson on the history of Athens and the Acropolis,we first went to the museum and my 2 family members went to the Acropolis while I stayed to enjoy the museum. Later when we met George at the agreed upon place, we proceeded to see the rest of the sights
from the vehicle, but also getting out and seeing them first hand.
Our favorites were the Olympic Stadium( my family members are coaches) and the changing of the guards. George to us to the back of the palace where we not just saw them change but was given a thorough lesson on when, why and what their movements and dress meant.
We were very unhappy to part from George. This tour helped my party of three to love Athens even more and couldn’t have a better tour guide in George if we had picked him ourselves.

Fabulous tour, George our guide was very informative and passionate about the history of Athens. The car was clean and spacious (although not a Mercedes as stated in the booking details). He had umbrellas to keep us dry and regularly replenished the water. When the tour was over he dropped us at a lovely taverna for lunch. I would highly recommend over the bus tours, much more personal.
