1. Acropolis
Sightseeing in Athens starts with the hill of Acropolis which will make your day. On the historical hill, you will have the opportunity to see the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Temple of the Athena Nike, the monumental gateway (Propylaea), the Erechtheum and of course the famous Parthenon, the main temple dedicated to the virgin goddess Athena.
2. Propylaea
The Propylaea is the monumental entrances to the sacred area dedicated to Athena, the patron goddess of the city. Built by the architect Mnesicles with Pentelic marble, their design was avant-garde. To the south-west of the Propylaea, on a rampart protecting the main entrance to the Acropolis, is the Ionian temple of Apteros Nike.
3. Parthenon
Parthenon, the main temple dedicated to the virgin goddess Athena. The eternal symbol of the Athenian Democracy and the Western Civilization.
4. Erechtheion
Temple of Poseidon and Athena, the strangest and most sacred place in ancient Athens.
5. Temple of Athena Nike
Temple dedicated to the goddess Athena Nike or Wingless Victory.
6. Theater of Dionysus
The Theatre of Dionysus Eleuthereus is a major theatre in Athens, considered to be the world's first theatre, built at the foot of the Athenian Acropolis.
7. Herod Atticus Odeon
The Odeon of Herodes Atticus is a stone Roman theater structure located on the southwest slope of the Acropolis of Athens, Greece. The building was completed in 161 AD and then renovated in 1950.
8. Temple of Olympian Zeus
After the Acropolis, we will head towards the Temple of Zeus, the biggest temple in antiquity, devoted to the King of the Gods, by way of Hadrian's Arch.
9. Panathenaic Stadium
We will visit Panathenaic Stadium where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896.
10. Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
We will see the changing of the guard (Euzones) in front of the old palace, which is today Parliament House, above the central square of Athens.
11. Hellenic Parliament
The Hellenic Parliament, in Greek known as Voulí ton Ellínon is the parliament of Greece, located in the Old Royal Palace, overlooking Syntagma Square in Athens. The Parliament is the supreme democratic institution that represents the citizens through an elected body of Members of Parliament.
12. Plateia Syntagmatos
Syntagma Square is the central square of Athens. The square is named after the Constitution that Otto, the first King of Greece, was obliged to grant after a popular and military uprising on 3 September 1843.
13. The Academy of Athens
The Academy Building constitutes one of three parts in an “architectural trilogy”. It was founded with the Constitutional Decree of March 18th, 1926, as an Academy of Sciences, Humanities and Fine Arts.
14. The Academy of Athens
The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is the largest state institution of higher learning in Greece, and among the largest universities in Europe. The splendid Athens University was designed by the Danish architect Christian Hansen and completed in 1864.
15. National Library of Greece
The National Library of Greece was built at the end of the 19th century, as the last of the Architectural Trilogy of Athens, a group of three neoclassical buildings which also includes the Academy and the University. The building was designed by Theophil Hansen.
16. Mount Lycabettus
Then moving into the historical center of the city we will drive up the highest hill of Athens, Lycabettus Hill, where you’ll have the best panoramic view of the city, from the hill of Acropolis to the Aegean Sea.
17. Ancient Agora of Athens
You will visit the Ancient Agora, which is considered the birthplace of democracy, philosophy and free speech.
18. Acropolis Museum
Instead of visiting the Ancient Agora, you can choose to visit the new Acropolis Museum. As you enter the museum grounds, look through the plexiglass floor to see the ruins of an ancient Athenian neighborhood, which were artfully incorporated into the museum design after being uncovered during excavations. This dazzling modernist museum at the foot of the Acropolis’ southern slope showcases its surviving treasures still in Greek possession. While the collection covers the Archaic and Roman periods, the emphasis is on the Acropolis of the 5th century BCE, considered the apotheosis of Greece’s artistic achievement. Built in 2009, this museum was voted as the best mono-thematic museum for 2019.

Andres was fantastic! His knowledge of Athens and Greek history and mythology is excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and felt we saw and learned so much in the half day.

We had a amazing private tour of the City of Athens and ancient ruins. Our guide Alexander was extremely knowledgeable able the ruins along with the cities history/government. I especially like the mythology stories told of Athena and Zeus. I can’t remember all the places we visited, but I would highly recommend this 1/2 day tour.

We had a wonderful afternoon with Yianis! He was so kind and knowledgeable about the history of Greece and the sites he took us. He then took us to an amazing Greek salad and gyro dinner. You will love this tour in this clean and comfortable van with Yianis!

We had a great time soaking up all that Athens had to offer with our driver Babis! He took us to all the areas listed and personally walked us to the best places to go for the best views for all our stops. He was very informed of the history of Athens. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to tour the city!

The tour was great. Our guide Alexander made it outstanding. Just an fyi, there is a lot of walking on uneven surfaces. Alexander was extremely knowledgeable and communicated the history of the area extremely well. He was very engaging and pointed out many places we might have missed. He is the best tour guide we have had post Covid and one of the top guides we have ever experienced. We highly recommend this tour and Alexander.

We were only in Athens for 2 nites so we had to maximize our time spent. This is definitely the way to see the cities highlight attractions in the most efficient manner. Our guide Babis was amazing and gave us a wonderful tour. He was very punctual, knowledgeable and professional along the way. We would recommend this to anyone on the same schedule.

fantastic adventure. If you have never been to Athens, or if it has been a long time since you have, we highly recommend this tour. Ask for the tour guide named Terry. Perfect English and he really knows history, especially with regard to Greece. Great day, very professional. Super safe driver as well. We had a wonderful day.

What a terrific start to our time in Athens. A city we have never visited before and with so many big ticket items to see we decided a private tour was the best option.
Manos was the perfect guide. Super clean car, good driver and full of knowledge. Got up to the Acropolis nice and early thankfully to miss the huge crowds that were gathering and packed in large parts of the city. He even gave us the perfect spot to watch changing of the guard. We have booked him for another tour.
