1. Acropolis
Sightseeing in Athens starts with the hill of Acropolis which will make your day. On the historical hill, you will have the opportunity to see the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Temple of the Athena Nike, the monumental gateway (Propylaea), the Erechtheum and of course the famous Parthenon, the main temple dedicated to the virgin goddess Athena.
2. Parthenon
Parthenon, the main temple dedicated to the virgin goddess Athena, the eternal symbol of the Athenian democracy and the western civilization.
3. Propylaea
The Propylaea is the monumental entrances to the sacred area dedicated to Athena, the patron goddess of the city. Built by the architect Mnesicles with Pentelic marble, their design was avant-garde. To the south-west of the Propylaea, on a rampart protecting the main entrance to the Acropolis, is the Ionian temple of Apteros Nike.
4. Erechtheion
Temple of Poseidon and Athena, the strangest and most sacred place in ancient Athens.
5. Temple of Athena Nike
Temple dedicated to the goddess Athena Nike or Wingless Victory.
6. Temple of Olympian Zeus
After the Acropolis, we will head towards the Temple of Zeus, the biggest temple in antiquity, devoted to the King of the Gods, by way of Hadrian's Arch.
7. Panathenaic Stadium
We will visit Panathenaic Stadium where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896.
8. Mount Lycabettus
Then moving into the historical center of the city we will drive up the highest hill of Athens, Lycabettus Hill, where you’ll have the best panoramic view of the city, from the hill of Acropolis to the Aegean Sea.
9. Ancient Agora of Athens
Ancient Greek Agora which is considered the birthplace of democracy, philosophy and free speech.
10. Temple of Hephaestus
In the ancient Greek Agora, you will visit the Temple of Hephaestus (the best-preserved temple in Greece standing largely as built) devoted to the God of blacksmiths and volcanoes.
11. Museum of the Ancient Agora
In this small but important museum you will see findings from Ancient Athenians' daily life and learn about their constitution.
12. Plateia Syntagmatos
Next driving alongside the National Garden, we will see the changing of the guard (Euzones) in front of the old palace, which is today Parliament House, above the central square of Athens, Syntagma. The square is named after the Constitution that Otto, the first King of Greece, was obliged to grant after a popular and military uprising on 3 September 1843.
13. Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

14. The Academy of Athens
The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is the largest state institution of higher learning in Greece, and among the largest universities in Europe. The splendid Athens University was designed by the Danish architect Christian Hansen and completed in 1864.

The Academy Building constitutes one of three parts in an “architectural trilogy”. It was founded with the Constitutional Decree of March 18th, 1926, as an Academy of Sciences, Humanities and Fine Arts.
16. National Library of Greece
The National Library of Greece was built at the end of the 19th century, as the last of the Architectural Trilogy of Athens, a group of three neoclassical buildings which also includes the Academy and the University. The building was designed by Theophil Hansen.
17. Koukaki
You will be feeling hungry by now, so our next stop is going to be a Greek tavern with the authentic Greek Pitta Gyros in the traditional neighbourhood of Koukaki. 19. Acropolis Museum
As you enter the museum grounds, look through the plexiglass floor to see the ruins of an ancient Athenian neighbourhood, which were artfully incorporated into the museum design after being uncovered during excavations. This dazzling modernist museum at the foot of the Acropolis’ southern slope showcases its surviving treasures still in Greek possession. While the collection covers the Archaic and Roman periods, the emphasis is on the Acropolis of the 5th century BCE, considered the apotheosis of Greece’s artistic achievement. Built in 2009, this museum was voted as the best mono-thematic museum for 2019. You can choose to visit either the new Acropolis Museum, or the National Archaeological Museum of Athens or spent time in the neighbourhood of Plaka.
20. National Archaeological Museum
Instead of visiting the new Acropolis Museum, we give you the opportunity to visit the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, that houses some of the most important artifacts from a variety of archaeological locations around Greece from prehistory to late antiquity. It is considered one of the greatest museums in the world and contains the richest collection of artifacts from Greek antiquity worldwide.
21. Plaka
If you don't want to enter the Acropolis or the National Archaeological Museum, you can walk at the traditional neighbourhood with the narrow and picturesque streets, that is known as the neighbourhood of the Gods.

Wonderful private full day tour. They did a great job of planning everything. A couple days before the planned tour they reached out and asked if we would like a licensed tour guide that would actually guide you through all the sites (for an additional fee). We decided to add the licensed tour guide and it was the best money we spent. It 100% improved our tour, she quickly guided us to sites many of which we would have never found on our own. Additional she had very in-depth knowledge allowing us to ask questions and also she helped personalize the tour by asking what interested us.

We were looking for a full day private tour, and after reviewing several options on Viator, we selected Olive Sea travel based on reviews, the itinerary and that it would just be the two of us.

Leading up to our tour, I communicated with Olive Sea and would receive speedy responses. This was key to giving me confidence that I chose the right company. The day before I received the name of our Driver and specific details of where to meet him.

Our driver Panos was waiting exactly as stated. Now the quality of our tour was in his hands, and he did not disappoint! He was upbeat, friendly, knowledgeable, and had excellent English communication skills.

Not only did we go to the listed sites he also took us to perfect picture spots and to witness the changing of the guard at the President’s residence. Fascinating!

Also, the lunch that was included was delicious. Thank you again Panos for a great tour of Athens!

getting picked up when it’s a hot day and staying cool is helpful, Elias was helpful in providing insight on what to see before each stop and is a local . So details of structures is covered and sure athens wasn’t built in a day but we saw what’s needed in one . Local cuisine will fill u up. if you don’t want to sweat your day around or want customized visit , this can meet your demand

We had a fantastic day in Athens recently with a brilliant guide Sotirios.
He was very knowledgeable and easy to understand.
Athens was very hot, busy and dusty. My advice would be to wear comfy flat shoes preferably trainers as there's a lot of uneven surfaces and a lot of steps.
Take water with you.
Use a guide if possible so you can learn about the history etc.
We then had a look around the Olympic Stadium which was really interesting and only a short walk away from the Acropolis. You can see all the Olympic flame torches here.

Having a guide and a private car is the way to go it really makes navigating and seeing all of the sights painless. Our driver was excellent and spent a solid 8 hours with us taking us to all the major sites for first time Athens visitors left us very impressed.

Communications from the driver/guide was solid
Felt like I really understood Athens much better than If we went on our own

We only had one full day in Athens and Manos ensured we saw all the biggest sites! He narrated the tour (his English is excellent!), and was an excellent driver! Definitely recommend this tour to see lots in a little time.

We stayed in Athens for only 2 nights before departing on a cruise. The first day we used to adjust from travel from the US. The one full day we had was a Saturday and we wanted to see as much as we could in one day as this was our first time in Greece. This tour was everything we could have hoped for. First, we got pick up from our hotel right on time from our awesome tour guide, Tas. Tas was very knowledgeable and professional. He kept the tour fun and running very smooth. The first stop starts with a bang by visiting the Acropolis (defintely our favorite spot). After that was stop after stop immersing us in Greek history. Tas also mixed in some of his favorite spots which was a nice touch. Lunch provided was great which included a gyro, salad, drink (beer or wine included) and baklava. The tomatoes in the salad were some of the most delicious we have ever tasted. After lunch, visiting the museums was planned but it was something we weren't really interested in. It was a free entrance day but with it being free there was a good chance we would be waiting in line for a good amount of time. Tas was very transparent with this and offered some options tailored for us. We visited a local souvenir shop to pick up some gifts for friends back home. Then we took a drive up the coast. Tas dropped us off at our hotel and offered some local recommendations. We went back and forth on if we should do this private tour or a group tour. In the end, we were very happy we kept this tour due to the freedom and flexibility it offered to us. We hope to visit again in the future and will use this company again. If Tas is still here we will be asking for him as well. Thank you Tas!

Acropolis and the Parthenon was truly amazing. It’s definitely something you have to see at least once in your lifetime. Was giving enough time there to take pics and see everything. Drove past some sites, then went to this museum. Was given 45 mins which we wished we had more time cause it was soo much to see. Food was included. They drive you around in a Benz. One thing to know is this isn’t a fully guided tour. The tour guy drives you to the locations and gives you a time frame to explore. So if you have questions ask before or when you get back to the van. The last stop was another museum, to which the enter fee wasn’t included. This is actually the end of the tour. The driver leaves you there and then you could spend as much time as you want. It isn’t too far from the meetup spot.

Excellent tour. Got to see all the major Athens sites while minimizing the crowds at each of them. Even got to go to one of the better spots for a photo op of all of Athens away from the thousands of tourists seen at most of the popular spots.
