The tour starts from your hotel, a chance to spend a delightful day out of Rome to visit Umbria, one of the most picturesque regions of Italy rich in vineyards, olive trees and the famous hilltop villages. One of the most famous is Assisi, an UNESCO World Heritage Site. The mystic town of Saint Francis, surrounded by its ancient walls, was built on the green slopes of Mount Subasio and with its colorful houses of stone, narrow streets, flowering balconies and noble palaces provide beautiful views for memorable pictures (do not forget your camera). An interesting visit to St. Francis Basilica, with its early Renaissance masterpieces by Giotto and Cimabue, and the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli. Time for lunch in a typical restaurant (optional) and then the tour continues to Orvieto, where you can admire a masterpiece of Gothic architecture with a glistening façade of stained glass, mosaics and sculptures. Soak up Orvieto’s charm and explore the city center and then Back to Rome.

We spent Thanksgiving in Rome this year and were looking for a day trip to a new region. This was the absolute highlight of our trip. Such a special day and we fell in love with Umbria. The ride was very comfortable and there was beautiful landscapes. We LOVED our tour guide in Assisi, he was so fun and knowledgable. Walking around this beautiful town was incredible and the cathedral with breathtaking. We enjoyed our time so much and would recommend this trip to anyone. 10/10!

a wonderful tour. Alex and Luigi were awesome, even when we had to wait for a lot of time for a marathon with a couple thousand runners going past before we could get to Assisi. They were both great. My only regret is that I did not reward them with a tip. I mistakenly thought tips were not expected in Italy. But I should have anyway...

The Cathedrals in Assisi are a must see. Our local guide Mary was excellent. A second highlight was the beautiful countryside of the Apennine mountain range. The visit to Orvieto was short but worthwhile. Unfortunately the guide that accompanied us from Rome was lazy and didn’t offer much commentary that would have made the drive more interesting. And I was disappointed that lunch and the admission to some of the venues was not included in this premium package.

It’s a very good tour especially if you want to go to learn about Saint Francis. Although some of the sights were closed due to the renovations going on, we are still able to have a good experience.The local guide was very engaging too. The group is small so we get along right away so that’s always a plus. The teamwork of Pietro and Antoinette is excellent. Definitely going back to Assisi on my next visit! We got picked up from our accommodation and got drop off back as well!

We were picked up at our hotel and were surprised to see that my husband and I were the only people on the tour! It turned into a wonderful private tour. Our driver, Pino, was a very good driver and we felt safe and well cared for the whole day. Our guide in the car was Alex and she was absolutely terrific! She knew a lot about the history of both Orvieto and Assisi and kept us interested during the whole drive. We went to Orvieto first and Alex gave us a very knowledgeable tour of both the town and the beautiful Duomo there. We had a delicious lunch at a deli/diner (Porcellino Divino) that Alex recommended. A pork sandwich to absolutely die for! Then we made our way to Assisi and had an interesting tour with Alex at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Assisi. We then were handed over to another guide to tour the Basilica of Santa Clara and then the gorgeous Basilica of St. Francis. Our guide there was very knowledgeable as well. Overall it was a relaxing and fun day and we saw what we wanted to see. We felt in great hands with both Alex and Pino. They were both very professional, warm and friendly. We were safe and well cared for! This also made us realize how charming both these towns were. We wished we had overnights in each of them, but didn't have time for more than a day trip. So this tour was perfect. We highly recommend this tour-thank you!

This was a fabulous experience. Our guides and driver (Joseppe, Adam and Marco) were friendly, knowledgeable and fabulous. We were treated to hidden gems on our tour routes as well as the main attractions. The lich stop was great roo.

Antoinette, our guide, was so great! We felt comfortable with her immediately and enjoyed her stories and personality. We loved every minute of our tour, aside from getting stuck on the highway for an hour due to a car accident that held up traffic for miles (but even that was fine) because Antoinette visited and it was a relaxing trip. Daniela, our Assisi guide, was awesome, too. We felt so welcomed by both guides and Antoinette made sure our daughters had a nice gluten-free meal for lunch. We'd go on this tour again! Thank you! The Thomas and Jill Ackerman family.
