Wander with our guide through the Jewish quarter and see the famous landmarks. Discover the awful stories of families who were hiding from the Germans in WWII and feel the tense atmosphere from that period of the war. Hear how hundreds of Jewish children were saved from deportation and explore the beautiful Jewish district. Learn about Anne Frank and see the Westerkerk and Anne Frank House from the outside.

At the end of the tour, you will have the opportunity to enter the house (unguided). If you book 7 weeks or more in advance we guarantee to get you tickets for the house. If booked less than 7 weeks, we offer an alternative way to explore the house via a Virtual Reality experience if we are unsuccessful in securing tickets.

1. Portuguese Synagogue
We will start the tour next to the impressive Portuguese Synagogue. One of Amsterdams most beautiful buildings. We will learn about the history of this museum that is still in use for the Jewish community of Amsterdam

We start the tour nearby the Jewish Historical Museum. We will see the 4 Jewish synagogues of the Museum.
3. Dokwerker
Hear the story about the february strike against the Nazi occupation in 1941
4. Hortus Botanicus
We will pass the beautiful Hortus Botanicus.
5. Holocaust Memorial Walk
The Memorial of Auschwitz in the beautiful Wertheimpark
6. Plantage & the East
Wander through the famous Plantage neighborhood. The most beautiful part of the canal district.
7. Hortus Botanicus
We are passing one of the oldest botanical gardens, the Hortus Botanicus in Amsterdam.
8. ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo
Learn about people who were hiding in the Amsterdam Zoo
9. Holocaust Namenmonument
Enter the Holocaust memorial where over 100.000 names of Jews that did not survive the holocaust are written on the walls.
10. Dam Square
Walk over the Dam Square, the heart of our city center and see the Royal Palace and the Nieuwe Kerk
11. Westerkerk
Walk around the Westerkerk, The inspiring church and tower Anne saw from her hiding place. Listen to the bells of the carillon playing every 15 mins.
12. Anne Frank Beeld
A short stop in front of the Anne Frank Statue next to the Westerkerk.
13. Anne Frank House
We will bring you to the Anne Frank House and show it from the outside. You will hear of the relationship between the secret annex, the local neighbourhood and the nearby Westerkerk. The Anne Frank House is a museum with a story. If you book 7 weeks or more in advance we will have tickets to visit the Anne Frank House. If tickets are not available anymore, we will take you 'inside' the house via a virtual reality simulation, which is included in the price as an alternative option.

An incredibly powerful experience from the start of the walking tour to the house itself. Guido, our tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable and the content made the experience so much better.

Amazing tour about a very sensitive topic. I try to visit all the tours related with the Holocaust and this is one of the best. The guide told us some details about Anne Frank that I didn't know and I'm sure that all of us managed to feel how awful lived the Jews during WW2. I highly recommend this tour!

This was the second tour my family took with Amsterdam Experiences and it was fantastic. Chris took us around the Jewish area of the city. Showing us where Jewish families used to live and then taking us to see their memorial. Words can not express how moving this tour was. And when things start to get too heavy, there’s a lovely apple pie and a nice chat. Having tickets (which were impossible to get) to Anne Frank house finished the tour off perfectly. Thank you again for an amazing tour.

We did the private Anne Frank and the Jewish History of Amsterdam tour. Chris was our very knowledgeable guide. The weather was rainy, cold, and windy, but we all persevered! Due to the bad weather, Chris was able to improvise and keep us mostly dry and warm while still imparting his vast wisdom of the Holocaust and the Frank family. Thank you, Chris! ?

Our tour was canceled at the last minute. This was to be the highlight of our stay and so a big disappointment. We did still have tickets to Anne Frank house and that was quite impactful.

This was an excellent walking tour, which we really enjoyed. Kaleigh knew her material inside and out and truly brought the material to (sad) life. She also managed to get us Anne Frank tickets which was absolutely amazing at short notice. My kids all identified this tour as the highlight of our weekend in Amsterdam. Highly recommended.
