Leave Amsterdam behind for a few hours and discover the typical Dutch countryside outside the capital. You'll drive through a picture-perfect landscape crisscrossed with canals, see authentic wooden houses, windmills and fishing villages, and witness traditional crafts from days gone by.

The picturesque village of Zaanse Schans is famous for its original buildings, vividly capturing Dutch life in the 17th and 18th centuries. Much like the World Heritage Kinderdijk, this town is lined with classic Dutch Windmills.

Experience the old Dutch life in Volendam and Marken with an abundance of inside information from your guide. You'll see the historic shipyard and windmills. Visit a shoemaker who works with wood and watch his clog-making techniques first-hand!

Opt for the Charm of Holland tour option to experience the best of old Holland in a small group, with all of the all-in option inclusions plus lunch at a traditional Dutch fishing restaurant. This luxurious tour departs every Friday!

The Windmill tour was nice but I lost the group. The bus left without us. Did not get to finish the tour. Will not use Tours and Tickets again.

This is a fantastic trip. We did the all inclusive trip. The visit to the windmill was very interesting as was the clog making demo.
The boat trip from Marken to Volendam was great, it being a nice warm day. Loved the cheese and stroopwaffle demo in Volendam. Both were very tasty.
Our guides, Tony and Miria were fantastic. Great knowledge about the area and good restaurant recommendations in Volendam. There is also an audio commentary on the bus while you drive between each stop.
I would highly recommend this trip while in Amsterdam

Sadly, the most memorable thing about this trip were both the horrible weather and the wonderful people we met on the trip. I think the experience would have been better had the wind been less than 25 mph with 37 mph gusts and horizontal rain that was freezing. Also there were just too many tourists at the site. People actually live in this area, yet, there were hundreds of tourists in a small area. I was glad to see the windmills, and the guy doing the wooden shoe demonstration was really great, but over all, it was a shopping experience. This is the fourth Viator tour I've ever been on and the first two were fabulous, the third was not good, and this one, even given that no one can control the weather, was just average. The site was wonderful, but it would have been better had we done it ourselves, as we do the rest of our travel experiences.

I choose this tour because of the length, 5 hours, but should have looked at the number of ppl in each tour better. We were ‘herded’ to the windmill and crowded in for a brief demonstration, most ppl could not see. Then, just enough time to use the WC and get back on bus for the next stop.

Volendam, we were herded through the town so we could get to the cheese demonstration. Packed into a small room for short, 5 minute lesion of cheese making, and then all 80 of us, elbow to elbow for the free taste and the opportunity to buy cheese and souvenirs.

We then we’re headed to the harbor, anf had a 30 minute break to look around and oh BTW, here are two places that we recommend you can get something to eat.

Marken, headed onto a ferry, and then to Marken. We’re herded through town, to a shoe factory, no time to look around. Another over crowed room for a short demonstration. A number of us could not even see anything except the back of people of the tour. Lined up 6 people deep. After a brief demonstration, the crowd emptied out to another gift shop.

The driver and guide were very nice and the recording on the bus was informative. I would suggest take. Public transportation on your own to these places, taking time to walk around and enjoy instead of being herded to places where the tour company has financial incentives.

Windmill tour was way too crowded. Basically just a big tourist trap. Tour inside of the windmill was interesting.
Marken tour was good being that there were not too many tourists!

The family enjoyed the windmill village & boat ride to Volendam. It did feel slightly rushed in each location but it was ok. Both the tour guide and bus driver were phenomenal and accommodating. They helped us when a family member became ill on the bus. We will never forget the kindness. Thank you Diana & Astef

Village tour was good as ample time was given for looking around and having lunch. However, because bus seat were not assigned, there were issues in getting the same seats upon return from each spot where passengers got out of the bus. Least time given for windmill tour - approximately 1 hour. Therefore it was difficult to cover windmill demonstration, take pictures and walk back to the bus on time given .
