4. Int Aepjen
Pub The Ape, also known as Int Aepjen in Dutch. Built around 1540 and one out of two remaining wooden buildings left in Amsterdam. Which is very special as there was a big fire in 1452 and after that point the government decided that buildings should have brick facades.
5. In de Waag
The Waag used to be one of the city gates of Amsterdam, a part of the defensive wall. It was built around the 1400s and is the second oldest building of Amsterdam. Later on it was used as a guild, craftsman’s organizations, situated themselves within the Waag and around the square.
6. The Smallest House in Amsterdam
The smallest house of Amsterdam was built around the 1700s and was first used as storage place for the VOC trading company. Later on people started living in the house for a very long time.
7. Condomerie
The Condomerie, This is the world’s first condom shop special for condoms, in place here since 1987. You can get a size customized condom and all kinds of special condoms.

This tour was perfect. Did the 8pm after a day of traveling. Great introduction to Amsterdam’s history. Our tour guide, Catherine (sorry if I am wrong) was excellent. She gave all the information needed from the coffee shops, red light district and everything about Amsterdam such as the buildings. A lot of history learned.

We did the tour with our 14 year old and 17 year old. We are pretty liberal and I would suggest that if you are considering taking older teens you would also need to be of a similar mindset. The history is fascinating. Tour was probably a bit too expensive for what it ends up being but it's interesting nonetheless. After doing many tours in Europe this one was one of the few that we could have missed without really noticing but, that said, I don't regret doing it either. If you are interested in the history of the district you'll enjoy it but there are probably other things to do in the area that are better value.
