1. The Jordaan
The most common theory on the origin of the name is as a derivation of the French word Jardin, meaning garden: most streets and canals in the Jordaan are named after trees and flowers. Another theory is that the Prinsengracht canal was once nicknamed Jordaan (the Dutch name for the river Jordan) and that the neighborhood beyond the canal came to be called this as well. 5. Statue of Anne Frank
Anne Frank is one of Amsterdam’s best-known historical figures. Anne and her family lived in hiding from the Nazis for more than two years in a house on the Prinsengracht. Anne was eventually deported to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945, where she later died at the young age of 15. Today, Anne’s spirit lives on through her diary and the huge numbers of visitors who come to Amsterdam every year to learn more about her short life.
6. Westerkerk
The Westerkerk (English: Western Church) is a Reformed church within the Dutch Protestant church in central Amsterdam, Netherlands. It lies in the most western part of the Grachtengordel neighborhood (Centrum borough), next to the Jordaan, between the Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht.

10. Leiden Square (Leidseplein)
The Leidseplein is a square in central Amsterdam, Netherlands. Lying in the Weteringschans neighborhood (Centrum borough), the Leidseplein is immediately northeast of the Singelgracht canal. It is situated on the crossroads of the Weteringschans, the Marnixstraat, and the Leidsestraat. The Leidseplein is one of the busiest centers for nightlife in the city. Historically, the square was the end of the road from Leiden and served as a parking lot for horse-drawn traffic. Today, modern traffic travels through the square and side streets are packed with restaurants and nightclubs. The Stadsschouwburg, a theater, is the most notable architectural landmark on the square, and the American Hotel is close by. Our boats will pass the Leidseplein on the Prinsengracht.
11. Bourbon Street Music Club Amsterdam
The neighborhood is known for the concentration of entertainment venues, such as Paradiso pop venues and the Melkweg, the Stadsschouwburg, the City Theater cinema, and the Holland Casino.
12. Spiegelkwartier
The imposing Rijksmuseum can be seen from the Spiegelgracht. This canal connects the Prinsengracht with the Lijnbaansgracht and runs into the Nieuwe Spiegelstraat. The Spiegelgracht is part of the Spiegelkwartier which is characterized by its many galleries and antique shops. As an art lover, you can walk from the Museumplein along the Spiegelgracht where you can continue to enjoy the most special paintings, antiques, and art (objects).
13. Rijksmuseum
The Rijksmuseum was founded in The Hague in 1800 and moved to Amsterdam in 1808, where it was first located in the Royal Palace and later in the Trippenhuis. The current main building was designed by Pierre Cuypers and first opened in 1885. On 13 April 2013, after a ten-year renovation which cost € 375 million, the main building was reopened by Queen Beatrix. In 2013 and 2014, it was the most visited museum in the Netherlands with record numbers of 2.2 million and 2.47 million visitors. It is also the largest art museum in the country. Our boats will sail along the Prinsengracht with a view on the Rijksmuseum The museum has on display 8,000 objects of art and history, from their total collection of 1 million objects from the years 1200–2000, among which are some masterpieces by Rembrandt, Frans Hals, and Johannes Vermeer. The museum also has a small Asian collection, which is on display in the Asian pavilion.
14. Amstelveld
Amstelveld is a square in the center of Amsterdam, between Reguliersgracht, Prinsengracht, and Kerkstraat, close to Utrechtsestraat. The Amstelkerk, a predominantly wooden building, stands on the square. The characteristic plantation consists of 46 Caucasian wingnut trees

The present church owes its name to a predecessor, the 17th-century hiding church 'Het Vrededuifje' that once stood on the Kerkstraat. The first stone for the current Duifkerk, designed by Leiden architect Th. Molkenboer was laid in April 1857. Due to a lack of money, the church became increasingly decayed in the course of the 20th century. For more than twenty-five years the building has been packed because the monumental façade had become detached. This danger has since disappeared. De Duif reopened in 2002 after an intensive restoration. During that restoration, the original murals were reappeared under layers of wall paint.

The Royal Theatre Carré (Dutch: Koninklijk Theater Carré) is a Neo-Renaissance theatre in Amsterdam, located near the river Amstel. When the theatre was founded in 1887, it was originally meant as a permanent circus building. Currently, it is mainly used for musicals, cabaret performances, and pop concerts.

The three main canals (Herengracht, Prinsengracht, and Keizersgracht), dug in the 17th century during the Dutch Golden Age, form concentric belts around the city, known as the Grachtengordel. Alongside the main canals are 1550 monumental buildings. The 17th-century canal ring area, including the Prinsengracht, Keizersgracht, Herengracht, and Jordaan, were listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010, contributing to Amsterdam's fame as the "Venice of the North"

One of Amsterdam’s many bridges is the beautiful Magere Brug, known to English speakers at the Skinny Bridge. This wooden drawbridge was once so narrow that it was hard for two pedestrians to pass each other. To cope with increasing traffic on the Amstel, a wider bridge replaced the narrow original in 1871.

The Singel is a canal in Amsterdam which encircled the city in the Middle Ages. It served as a moat around the city until 1585, when Amsterdam expanded beyond the Singel. The canal runs from the IJ bay, near the Central Station, to the Muntplein square, where it meets the Amstel river. It is now the inner-most canal in Amsterdam's semicircular ring of canals.

I decided to do this tour with my mom after reading such positive reviews but was completely disappointed. We did the tour NYE evening and perhaps the usual folks weren’t working but such a let down!

For starters, we had difficulty finding the boat due to poor markings, it was completely disorganized when we got there and run by very young kids (all very nice) who knew nothing about the canals. We didn’t learn anything.

It was beautiful to be on the canals though!

The hosts tried harder to please the audience. I fairly enjoyed the experience, but I would go for a open space boat next time

The tour was okay. There was a crew of two including the skipper. The second crew person was responsible for serving drinks and providing narration for the tour. They offer beer, wine and soft drinks for free. There was also some people who had wristbands (not sure where they got them, as it wasn't offered when I booked, maybe was a tour) anyway, the wristbands provided a cheese tray to those people; therefore, it was a good deal for the price. The two crew members were kind and jovial. The patrons would have been better served with a crew of three and if they didn’t cram as many people on the boat as possible, as the seating runs along perimeter of the boat, being crammed in makes it difficult to actually turn around and look at the view (the whole reason for the tour). In addition, hardly anyone ate their cheese trays; therefore, it was a waste of food. I would have paid more for the cruise under these circumstances; however, I understand their business model, which is cram people in, give them free alcohol and they will be happy and give good reviews, all for the same price as other canal cruises, which I get. I just wish I was able to enjoy the cruise and atmosphere better for the reasons mentioned above.

The staff was great, nice wine and cheese. But it was just a trip up and down one small canal by Anne Frank Haus. Reading the description I thought it brought us to Centraal Station area.

Interesting to listen to the guide, but you actually you don’t see anything and cannot take any pictures as the windows are dirty, seats are placed facing the centre.

Highly recommend this tour. Fantastic way to see Amsterdam by night and take in the beautiful light installations along the canals - so innovative! Our captain Andre and host Chiara were so friendly and shared their knowledge of this beautiful city in such an interesting way. Highly recommend the gluhwein too!!
