The Amalfi Coast can be complicated and time-consuming to visit on your own. Taking a shared minivan or minibus is the simplest and most affordable way to enjoy the sights. This eight/nine-hour trip begins in Sorrento and heads south for the breathtaking drive (lightly narrated by your driver-or narrated by your guide), and an hour or two in each of the three main towns - Positano, Amalfi and Ravello - before returning to Sorrento.

Mariano was an excellent driver who provided good service and information. The destinations and curvy roads were very crowded, but I guess that's part of the experience. Villa Cimbrone in Ravello was a nice place to escape the crowds, as was Atrani, Italy's smallest municipality adjacent to Amalfi and accessed on foot via tunnels.

I loved this trip! The weather was perfect for beautiful photos and Andrea was a great guide. The bus was very comfortable and cool.

We had limited time before returning home after several weeks in Spain meeting up with our kids living in Europe, so we flew from Malaga to Naples, and after an overnight and a bit of time to explore Naples, took the Campania Express at the main train station to stay in Sorrento (which we loved) as a base to visit the Amalfi Coast with a last couple of nights in Rome. We knew this was going a be a whirlwind, but we also knew we'd have more time next Fall, so we booked an Amalfi Coast tour with Mondo Tours through Viator online. (about $110 each + tips) I had read that Rick Steves recommended Mondo Tours, and ours was just exactly what we needed in this short visit. It was initially to be an 8-12 passenger van, but could go up to 20 if enough people joined, so we had the larger van with a driver (Dominic) and with the larger group, a guide as well (Micheline), both excellent. Pick up in was on time in Sorrento, and we knew we would only have an hour in Positano and Amalfi, and 1 1/2 hours in Ravello, but that was OK for this trip. (Especially since it rained pretty hard halfway through Amalfi and all of Ravello!!) My sister and her husband bought a house in Orvieto and have kindly offered visits any time, so we know we'll be back as often as possible. Also lived in Germany for 15 years teaching for DOD, so we kind of know what can work if necessary. As scornful as some people are of the 3 town tour, it gives an overview, acclimates one to the crowds and how to avoid them next visit, and Micheline poured hours of history and personal stories into all of us as we drove! Since we were not driving ourselves, we got some absolutely spectacular photos along the road as well as in the towns. True, we'd have loved weeks instead of days, but family time wins out when you live on different continents!

Our driver, Mariano picked us up promptly at our hotel and took us on a pleasant 8 hour adventure. Mariano was very informative and we had a very relaxing experience. We were never rushed and it was one of the highlights of our Italian trip

We greatly enjoyed our Amalfi Coast Tour. Micheline was fun, entertaining and very knowledgeable of the area, people and history. Our driver Genaro, what can we say, how does he do that drive day after day, his skills are amazing.

The towns of the Amalfi Coast were beautiful, and we really enjoyed the trip! Andrea did an excellent job, and we would recommend doing this tour. But the towns are busy in April, and we kept thinking about how crowded it would be during the summer!

The trip was amazing and views of the Amalfi coastline breathtaking. Micheline provided us with just enough information to understand the history of the coast and kept us entertained. Our driver Nic did a fantastic job and made us feel safe on the entire trip. Very grateful that Micheline arranged for us to be dropped off close to our place of stay in Sant'Agnello. I highly recommend this and it has to be experienced to appreciate what the Amalfi coast has to offer.
