Whilst the ferry ride over to the island was fantastic, dolphins jumping the waves at the back of the boat, scenic views of the Swan River, and a guided tour of it also.
I must warn about the 90 minute speed boat ride. I was under the impression we would be sticking to the shoreline doing fun spins and tricks. All of which I was used to from my years on the Murray River back home.
This was unfortunately not the case, I experienced a full blown panic attack with tears and shaking when we ventured out into the deep blue waters of the west side of the island, which the guides informed us that the next landmass in that direction was Africa (so proper open ocean). The waves were 4-5 metres high, and scared the life out of me! This was only 15 minutes into the 90 minute ride, and whilst the rest was not as bad, the damage for me was already done. However, my 4 year old daughter who obviously has no fear, seemed to love the whole experience, so clearly each to their own! Once the crew realised I was suffering, which was noticed in the last 15minutes of the tour, they were lovely, and very understanding, assuring me that the worst was over. (I did not alert them sooner, as my anxiety took my voice, and clear thinking away)
So whilst I’m aware my experience was a deep profound fear, and not the fault of the crew, or the itinerary, I am annoyed that this was not stated more clearly when booking. As I could have saved my self the trauma, and the money.
Sadly this also ruined the rest of my day exploring the island, as I was still quite shaken even the next day!
I’d also like to note, that if you are only there for the day, then this type of tour is not ideal as it chews up a lot of time, only leaving you a few hours to explore the rest of the island.
The bus tour would be the better option for this!

We wanted to travel to and from the island on Sealink so we booked the Adventure Tour direct with Rottnest Express at a cost of $75 each. The tour leaves from the island's ferry dock at 11.15am so the 10am ferry from Fremantle got us to the island with plenty of time to spare. It was a very windy day and, when we lined up to board the incredibly powerful boat, the skipper, Malcolm, warned that it would be very rough out on the water. He also cautioned that anyone who was pregnant or who had back problems should think twice about doing the tour and that those who pulled out would be given a full refund. One elderly couple immediately pulled out and another couple waited until we were out on the water to surrender so we had to turn about and go back to the dock to drop them off.
Once out of the bay, the skipper planted the wrist and we took off (almost literally). The neck to knee red ponchos issued to us were to keep us warm and dry but, when you have sheets of water pouring over you from the big waves, they were a failure. We were saturated and, at one stage, she went to put her hood over her head without realising that it was full of water. A good laugh and a fresh soaking. In fact, we seemed to spend quite a bit of time laughing uproariously at the silliness of the situation we found ourselves in with each succeeding tsunami drenching us. Some of it was slightly nervous laughter but the trip was exhilarating. None of the island's marine animals or birds were stupid enough to show themselves in such conditions and so the only "eco" thing we saw was an empty sea eagle nest. The eagles were probably smart enough to have gone out for the day. We stopped briefly offshore from a beach where people were swimming and were reminded that, in a sheltered area, it was quite a hot, sunny day. Not so much where we were out in the open water working on recreating our own Poseidon Adventure.
It was a very exciting 90 minutes and I enjoyed it thoroughly. She was a little less enchanted and, by the end, we were both happy to be back on dry land. On the ferry back to Freo later, she realised that she had lost one of her earrings. We concluded that she was fortunate to still have her ears and hair. By that time, the wind had really come up and the spray was reaching higher than the windows on the upper deck.

Really awesome driver/speaker new alot about the island. Saw many animals. Perfect day for a fast cruise around rotto. Enough time to see amd learn about everything.

The adventure tour on the Eco was exceptional! Lots of fun in the speedboat, incredible nature including a large pod of dolphins, osprey and seals with knowledgeable guides about what we were seeing. I wanted to get back on and do it again. Buckle up.

It is 2nd time visiting Rottnest island and give exciting experience to see 360 coast libe island from ocean, exotic sea animals and speed boat riding.
Recommend for every one.

The adventure cruise team were great! Very informative and provided a great view of the island, viewing of sea lions, dolphins and more! Highly recommend for some added adventure and seeing the island by water.

The adventure boat ride was an absolute highlight. We saw seals, dolphins and osprey and our guide Jess was very entertaining and informative. Jodie the captain did some thrilling moves with the boat that kept us all entertained. We also had perfect weather for the trip. Thoroughly recommended.

So we'll organised, exchanged voucher for tickets at the ferry counter and received all the vouchers and info for the day, everything ran well and we loved it, enough time doing activities and enough time to do our own thing.

Very nice beaches and setting for those that enjoy the beach.
Loved our speedboat ride around the island with 900 horsepower. There are many places for food near the ferry dock.
