Your journey begins at the aptly named Meeting Point restaurant, where you’ll rendezvous with fellow food enthusiasts and our knowledgeable tour guide. We kick off the day with a refreshing local beer or a glass of wine, setting the tone for an exceptional culinary adventure. Indulge in a traditional meal featuring tantalizing beef stew and vegetable curry—delicately infused with aromatic, sweet Asian flavours. Complementing these delectable dishes are African staples like maize meal pap, adding authenticity to your culinary experience.
We make a stop at Madam Taitou. Be enticed by the fragrant spices that welcome you at the door, and step into an African-inspired interior that will captivate your senses.
Prepare your taste buds as we venture to The Secret Gin Bar to enjoy a local craft gin tasting complemented with some sweet and savoury local treats—a tantalizing cherry atop your gastronomic quest. We end at Openwine on Wale Street, where you’ll taste rare and unique local wines.

Fantastic culinary and history tour of Cape Town. Our knowledgeable and gregarious guide, Justin, took us to a Tanzanian restaurant, an Ethiopian restaurant, a coffee shop, and a gin mill, and introduced us to us to many delicious tastes of Africa , as well as filling us in on the very complex and fascinating history of South Africa, politically and socially. The tour formed an excellent base to guide our subsequent choices of restaurants, bars and coffee shops, as well as enhancing our appreciation of the history and culture of South Africa.: Boers . English colonialists, Zulu chiefs and ANC politicians and more
Highly recommend

After having experienced the Cape Town Essentials tour with Justin, who was absolutely great and taught us so much about Cape Town’s history and local delicacies, we decided to hop on the Taste of Africa tour.

This tour was completely different and very interesting. We learnt about Tanzanian food, and better, had a really good taste of it (delicious and so sweet!). We also shared Ethiopian food in a traditional way and explored its many different sides. Both in two completely different and really cool venues! Justin took us for a blind wine tasting of South African wines as well and we ended up tasting some very special gins in a hidden bar.

When you are in Cape Town and if you are into food, make sure to hop on one of these tours as they are sooooo worth it!!!

Absolutely fantastic experience! Couldn’t recommend it any higher. We wouldn’t have known or looked out for any of the places Justin took us to if he wasn’t showing us around. Food was brilliant and his history knowledge was amazing. Highly recommend!

Our family of 5 did the Cape Town Taste of Africa tour with Justin. The tour was excellent with a mixed range of African food & drinks. Justin was an excellent guide, with lot's of extra SA/Cape Town and food related history that really added to our experience.

A tour by a true local who knows the city intimately, Justin was a treasure trove of information, teaching us so much about the history and influences behind some incredibly tasty dishes. We had a blast following him around as he showed us some of the most delicious and culturally significant dishes to grace Cape Town.

Can't recommend enough!

Wow! Truly an experience not to be missed. Justin did such a great job narrating and personalizing the tour so that our expectations were continuously exceeded at every stop. The perfect curation of independent restaurants, bakery, and wine shop rounded out our afternoon.
Highly recommend starting your journey through South Africa with Cape Town Culinary tours as an introduction into the wonderful flavors and history. . It’s been almost a month and we are still talking about how great this tour was.

We enjoyed our tour and it was a great way to eat and learn about the different cultures in South Africa. The way the tour was oriented was for two bigger meals at two local restaurants, followed by a wine tasting and gin/chocolate tasting. We might have preferred to learn a bit more by stopping at more places and trying lots of different things instead of the big meals, but overall it was a tremendous experience and our guide was very helpful!
