Phuket Elephant Sanctuary is the first and only ethical elephant sanctuary in Phuket where elephants roam around, bathe and sozialize freely across 30 acres of lush, tropical land bordering the Khao Phra Thaeo National Park in North East Phuket. We buy all rescued elephants to ensure that Phuket Elephant Sanctuary is their final home, and we offer professional veterinary care for old and injured elephants. By visiting us, you are supporting a sustainable, ethical and compassionate approach to elephant tourism where elephants have the freedom to live naturally. National Geographic, Lonely Planet and The Guardian have all endorsed our ethical approach.

We all absolutely loved our day at the sanctuary. The staff are amazing as was our lunch. They are doing a fantastic job rescuing the elephants and educating people on the cruelty they endure. 100% recommend a visit.

Amazing experience and very informative. I highly suggest doing this than supporting the abusive elephant riding or bathing elephant experience. 100% of their profits go back into rescuing elephants and educating the public on the torture elephants and other wild animals go through for tourist “pleasure”

This experience was amazing. The elephant sanctuary's dedication to rescuing and providing a retirement haven for these majestic beings is truly heartwarming. Witnessing the gentle giants find solace and care brought tears to my eyes. The sanctuary's commitment to compassion and the well-being of these incredible creatures is both inspiring and emotionally impactful.

An absolutely incredible experience.
From the eye opening documentary about the elephants, to feeding them and observing them, it was 10/10 from beginning to end
The elephants are treated with such respect and kindness, and are really left to enjoy their life.
Our guides were wonderful and knowledgable, and the food was absolutely delicious.
Would absolutely recommend to anyone- hopefully we will be back!

This is a sanctuary that had 4 elephants when we visited, they don't offer rides on the elephants, they care very deeply for them. Our experience with a 1 on 1 guide included making our lunch together with our guide Thuy (pronounced tee) feeding the elephants bananas and sugar cane, as well as cooking up food supplements for the elephants, making things out of dried elephant poo, not as disgusting as it sounds because it's basically just fibre and there is no smell from it. We just spread it out to dry on a board and they make things out of it to sell for funds.
We went a short walk through the forest with one of the elephants too and watched as her keeper washed her as well. It was about 4 hours long and they also arranged transport (extra cost) for us from Patong beach in Thailand where we docked with the cruise ship. If you love and care about elephants, I would recommend visiting this sanctuary as we loved every minute of our visit.
