I booked this trip in May 2023 for 1st January 2024, as it had everything we both wanted to do, and more. We were picked up from our hotel at 08:30am on 1st January, right on time.

The trip was absolutely brilliant, from Start to Finish. There was 18 of us altogether on the tour, with some people finishing after 6 days( as they booked the 6 day tour) . Our tour Guide, Rocky, went above and beyond to make sure everyone on the tour saw everything we had on the itinerary, and even went out of his way to make little extra stops at smaller waterfalls etc, and Gas stations for Toilet stops etc. He entertained everyone on the drive with the Icelandic Troll Stories, and taught us all about the great Geology of Iceland.

We saw the Northern Lights, went glacier Hiking, Inside an Ice Cave, Whale Watching, Horse Riding, saw around 10 waterfalls, Vok Thermal Baths, Black Sand Beach, Diamond Beach, went inside a Lava Cave, and lots of other smaller things, too many to list!

The hotels were great, with Breakfast included each day. On a few nights, we all had dinner together as a group, which was great for sharing stories, and making friends, as there was people from China, Taiwan, UK, and USA on this tour.

I highly recommend this tour, i am glad i booked it, and would love to see it in the Summer one day too.

First and foremost, Iceland now has my heart. The sights were so gorgeous, it was almost hard to comprehend. We saw a lot of cool things that were in big shows too, like Vikings and Game of Thrones, which was awesome! On the second night we saw the Northern Lights. My favorite thing was seeing all the different waterfalls—there is so many in Iceland and each one is totally unique and lovely.

Our guide, Rocky, was absolutely spectacular. He was very knowledgable and even gave us some lore and stories along the way. Not to mention, his taste in music is impeccable. If you have him as a tour guide pay attention to the songs he plays, because they may have a hint about your next location.

All in all, the tour is well worth the time and money spent. Would love to come again in the summertime to see what Iceland looks like then.

My wife and I had an amazing time on this 8 day tour around tour! Our guide, Rocky, tailored the trip to the group. He played amazing song playlists that would “foreshadow” what we were seeing next and had an even better sense of humor! The tour itself was beautiful and really let’s you see every corner of Iceland! Highly recommend this experience for all of those that want to see everything Iceland has to offer.

One thing I recommend is buying some crampons prior to going on the tour in the winter time to make traversing the ice covered paths and trails a lot easier.

The overall experience was great with our guide Erla! I learnt a lot about Iceland’s climate, people, food, music and culture through Erla’s stories and fun explanations. I did not regret getting the 8 day tour as this is a good amount of time to fully understand and see Iceland.

However, wish we could have kept our guide for the full 8 days as the tour company decided to change our guide and bus for the last 2 days. Although we got a bigger bus, our group had to combine with 8 other people and we got a guide who was not as fun and not as great with explanations. Hope this can be improved as this change came to a surprise to our entire group at the very last minute.

Had the best time with the best guide! It was an amazing, well organised tour with plenty to see and do each day. Our guide Erla made the experience extra special with her warm hospitality and kept us entertained with plenty of interesting facts and stories about Icelandic Christmas traditions during the long bus journeys to each location, all while expertly navigating the tricky Icelandic roads. The crazy weather and great company made this an unforgettable trip :)

We just came back from a spectacular 10-day visit to Iceland where we did the 8-day small group tour with our guide and very able driver Johann! My wife and I were celebrating her 65th birthday and our 30th anniversary. The tour was fantastic and so was Johann our guide. I highly recommend this trip. The itinerary was excellent. Each day was a new adventure, with excellent meals to be had at most stops, and on three nights the northern lights too - a bucket list checkmark! Iceland is a magical and exceptionally scenic country that I expect to return to in the summer or fall to experience the land of fire and ice during the long summer days. Thanks again Johann for a great tour.

I had a wonderful time on my 8 day winter tour around Iceland. There was a total of 15 passengers on the tour and our guide John went the extra mile to help us bond as a group and experience all that Iceland has to offer. Here are my tips and hints for those who are trying to decide if this tour is for them:

1)Activity level….I consider myself to be a reasonably fit 65 year old (go to the gym 5 days/week, Zumba etc). Even though the trip is rated easy/ moderate by Troll, by the time the tour was over I was exhausted because there are so many activities packed into the limited amount of daylight you have during the Icelandic winter. I did all of the included plus add-on activities except the whale watching and don’t regret any of the choices I made. I did however wish for a little more downtime in the evenings or a less rigorous day (or two) so I could catch my breath. This is an observation and not a complaint. Hopefully this info can help some potential participants set expectations.

2)Clothing/gear……Windproof and waterproof is a must for your outerwear. The winds can be intense and when combined with precipitation (rain, snow, sleet) you need your gear to keep you warm and dry. You can rent gear or bring your own. I wore multiple wool layers (250 wt) top and bottom underneath my outerwear and stayed comfortable throughout the tour. I wore Gortex ski gloves with thin knit gloved underneath. The thin gloves allowed my picture taking hand to last longer in the cold when I had to take my thick gloves off to take pictures. Strongly recommend touch screen sensitive glove liners/ thin gloves. Sturdy hiking boots are a must. I also had hiking poles and yak traks for my boots but I ended up not using either of these mainly because of the hassle factor, not because they couldn’t be useful as we definitely encountered lots of slipper/ slushy/icy conditions in parking lots and hiking to look at waterfalls etc. The glacier hike and ice cave hike both provided spikes/crampons for your boots.

3)Lodging…I found the lodging to be acceptable. None were super fancy, but they all were clean and safe. The included breakfasts were adequate to get your day started but not really special.

Overall this was an amazing trip and I was able to check off my list all the things I hoped to accomplish on my Iceland winter tour (northern lights, glacier hike, ice cave, etc).

Thanks John for working so hard to make things work out.

Where to begin? We were a group of 13, from 6 different countries, all with the common goal to see the natural wonders of Iceland. Our 8 day ring tour was just the right pace with 3 or so stops each day. Each stop was more scenic than the last one. Iceland in winter is so stunning. Johann was an excellent guide, he knew so much about the history, the geology and the people. We saw the auroas three times and although according to the experts the shows were only moderate, we were impressed. Because it was December we also got to learn about the Yule lads and see the magical colors of the extended twlight. Iceland in December is stunning.
